To get back in the swing of things....
Ok, starting to make stuff again after a long break, thought I'd start off with something musical, since that was what I most in the mood for. I opened up Cubase, and this is what I got, it's not finished yet, I'll keep posting update, but I just thought I'd get peoples opinions.

My apologies for it being in .WMA format, it's the only compressed format my Cubase will render properly :(

Thoughts/Suggestions welcome, though this version is unmixed, and theres a whole other section of music to go, not to mention refinements ;)

Enjoy!

Edit : And no, it's not a swing-beat :P

I'm actually plotting where I could fit this in my campaign right now.

Unfortunately, the result that's coming up is at the end of Chapter 2...or waiting until the Back From The Grave, which would probably better suit it with the opening.

Very cool. Although at the start I was wondering if this was another hi-poly FS2 intro tune :D

And now for something....
Well, left that alone for now, will finish it in the next week or so, decided instead to have a bash at a 3/4, it's much more soundtrack orientated, and this one came out sounding somewhat.... Yarrr! ;)

I'm even finally getting some modelling done :D

Enjoy :)

I like them both greatly.  Very high-quality stuff there.

Though if anyone hasn't figured it out by now, I'll always post any criticism I can find to keep things balanced, so I will say that the first one is a little too repetitive.  A couple of the sequences repeat a little too often (only once or twice too often though) and it makes me start to draw parallels to the basic make one stanza, repeat, vary parameters for each loop routine that cubase-type projects tend to fall into if you aren't careful.

And of course this isn't to say the first isn't good as it is, I could just see potential beyond where it is now. :)

In the first song, starting around 1:00. A little more melodic variation when the phrase repeats could probably help. Maybe an upper part with chord tonics to accent what's going on?

Second one I liked a lot. I like the melody. Violin sounds very nice...

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with you about the first one, there an awful lot of background and no foreground, I'll look into that :)

Might even have a go at something else tonight.

I prefer the first to the second...it feels more complete. Defined opening, beginning, end. The second one's...all of one of those, none of the others. Though I'll be darned if I know which.

No musical knowledge here. :p

Double post, but last one for a little while, 3/4 again, not sure of a name for it though, as usual. ;)

If the ogg doesn't play, let me know and I'll post a wma instead.

Thanks :) Alas, Cubase crashed before I could save all the Midi, so I probably lost that piano piece, but theres actually one of two notes in there I'd have changed anyway, so I guess this gives me a chance before I mix it ;) Also, listening to the ogg, it's done some hella wierd thing with the levels on various instruments, I'll look at that.
