Would anyone (save one admin in HLP), mind someone dropping a cop of coffee on the red button connected to some 20,000+ missiles (Conventional or Nuetron) pointed in that area of the world, wiping out "accidently" 4000years of hate in one blow?

Unless I'm gravely mistaken...Israel was not created by the U.N. but by the British Empire and the League of Nations.  The U.N. just put a sticker on it later and stamped "nationhood" on it.

It was created after WWII, after the UN had userped the League of Nations.  And though it was "officially" done by Britain, the UN had their hand in the proceedings from the start.  Israel was created, in part, out of sympathy for the victims of the Holocaust, despite that not actually being a matter of public record.

You'd be thinking of the Palestine Mandate, which originally put the British in charge of handling Palestine. The 1947 deal came around when the UN actually moved the Jewish settlers into Israel.

Probably the British Mandate and also the Balfour Declaration, which was when the Brits promised the Jews that they'd get their own state in the mandate eventually.
