Yeah, most of the gameplay is the same, but now it looks better and then it can handle more. Have you guys gotten it yet? I got it, and I ****ing love it. The only reason I took the time to stop playing it and post here is because my dads aging processor is heating up a bit much.
Wh00t!? Vinyl? Is it like an I-pod 2 or something?

Well, there's Call of Duty 2 and Call of Duty 2: Big Red One. If the first games console port is any indication, Big Red One will suck. Therefore, the console CoD2 (X360, so you probably won't be interested) is out on 11/15, a week before you will be able to play it.

Why would you EVER play an FPS for a console? Aside from Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, of course.

Because my consoles are connected to a 41 inch HDTV and DD 5.1, whereas my computer is not. Plus I can lay down on my couch and play rather than developing carpal tunnel on my keyboard.

Already bought F.E.A.R. and Quake 4, I was hoping to hear some more about CoD2 before I splurged for it.

Ya know.. you both can hook your PC's up to the TV somehow, dont know how good it would look though, and get wireless keyboard/mouse combos and lay on the couch.  Though, you'd look really wierd doing that I bet.  :D

Yeah, my Bro did that a few years ago, after he broke his monitor (which the bastard borrowed from me). From what I remember from a few years back, it can be a little blurry, but with the high def TVs you get nowadays, i'd be interested in seeing how it would look... of course, there's a chance something might burn out or melt when you try it... which is why i'm waiting for someone else to do it first :D...

Doesn't need to be released there in order for you to aquire it.
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

So true. So very, very true.

Anyway, I don't find it a matter of getting carpal tunnel(I've gamed since Wolfenstein 3D on PC) so much as difficulty of control. Point and click is much simpler than using your thumbs to move and look around, and if you're unlucky, to shoot as well(lucky being using the shoulder triggers). Ah well.. to each his own.

hey, speaking of those games, how are they??  I read reviews on Quake 4 and F.E.A.R.  I cant play fear, its too bloody, ill get in trouble (sadly), but I was definitly looking into Quake 4....  how is the gameplay, graphics, sound, eetc??  also, can the blood be turned off?  no big deal if it cant, but it would be nice....

The blood in FEAR does disappear. (heh, rhymes) But in Quake 4 has some more nasty stuff than pure blood and cuts. Limbs being sawed off, mutilated bodies hooked up to machinery, etc.

Overall, buy both. Each is great in their own way.

Lower body being sawed off actually. And F.E.A.R allows you to turn off blood AND seperation (which makes it much, much, more realistic).

I think most of the big ones have gotten mentioned in here, Z. There's Half Life 2(I don't think anyone said anything about that), Half Life 1+ expansions, DooM 3, the old DooMs... I'm sure there are other good ones out there, but I don't get into a bunch of stuff for monetary reasons, hence my lack of knowledge.

As far as single player goes, all of the recent ones are basically mediocre to varying degrees. Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is a big exception, although that's technically a TPS. Other than that, the last genuinely good one was Deus Ex Invisible War, although it was a major letdown nonetheless.

Why not?

Because the controls are designed by monkeys. :p The biggest improvement the 360 or PS3 could have is to allow the use of a proper mouse/KB setup.
