Higgara, the Great DomeClass: Class A SuperArk
Population: 4 Billion
Length (largest): 380 kilometers
Description: From a distance, the Great Dome is frequently mistaken for a snub fighter or a measly scout, and that is by design. Everything from the giant engine bells to the vaguely humanoid form in its shaded glass cockpit was designed to fool the eye when sensors and such were useless. At the time they believed that the new stealth technologies that had been developed would protect it, disguising it as the scout it was modeled after. They didn't, of course, yet Higgara continued to impart awe in the minds of those who saw it for the first time. It's quite something to come in from afar, only to see what is supposedly shaded glass become clear with a mesh of tubules and passages running through them, and the giant humanoid form become surrounded by the great Higgarian forest. . .
Even those living aboard it are astonished by its size, and its abilities. It doesn't seem possible that pieces of Arks are built in the massive engine bells, which are nothing more than hollow shells. Even so, the smaller, real engines of the Great Dome are nearly 20 kilometers wide. . .
The great dock is as big around as the large bells, with enough room to hold a million ships, with space to spare. . .
What's even harder to imagine is that until recently, nearly three quarters of its massive hull were empty.
