Ever since I got FS1, I have one question:

If you look at the VPs, youll notice FS1 ships are named:

fighter01, fighter 02, etc.

bomber03, bomber04, etc.

They're complete rows of numbers, EXCEPT "bomber02" which is missing both in textures and models. So, it appears that V decided to ditch a model / bomber they had originally planned AFTER creating the rest of the models.

Now, the main question - does anyone KNOW which vessel this should have been, or anything else specific about it?

My theory is that it was supposed to be the two seated apollo like thingy - but i'd like to know if anyone ever actually found out.

Maybe they cut the Zeus originally, then brought it back for ST?

Maybe it wasn't a bomber at all.  Maybe it was a huge super juggernaut that was 50 times the size of the Sathanas.

probably not as it is 'bomber02.pof", and FS1.

Actually, Lighty, check the Amun. IIRC, it was supposed to be Terran at first, then they changed their minds for some reason. And if I'm wrong, it still looks pretty Terran.

I MAY have been the Ulysses as well...which was their first fighter design and also was listed as a bomber for some time.  So it may have been renamed bomber02 (I think the Medusa was number 1) and then changed back to a Terran Vasudan hybrid when they got their ducks in a row for the design philosophy of each race.

It could've been the Apollo, although for some reason the Zeus sounds more likely. It really doesn't look like any of the Terran ships in FS1.

Ulysses is not plausible as its fighter01 (so the first fighter down the road). As I said, some Apollo similar thingy was my first guess too, but Zeus indeed sounds more reasonable.

Interesting thought on the Amun, KT. I'll check up if that'd work.

Actually, the Amun was supposed to be Shivan IIRC, not Terran.

Bomber 1 was the Athena, 3 was the Shaitan. 4, Medusa. 5, Ursa.  6, Osiris. 7, Amun. 8, Nephilim.

I think going by this, and the way tht V usually worked:

1 Terran vessel
1 Vasudan Vessel
1 Shivan Vessel, or vice versa

(ie; Capital01 = Orion | Cruiser01 = Leviathan/Fenris
Capital02 = Lucifer | Cruiser02 = Aten
Capital03 = Typhon | Cruiser03 = Cain/Lilith
Capital04 = Demon)

We could speculate it was an early Vasudan bomber.

Yes I know that...and I asked V guys when we first started looking at the FS1 fighters and the numbering scheme.  I believe I even asked one of the dev guys, in person, at Volition in Champaign IL, with regards to these things.  The Ulysses was a bomber as I recall...for a period of time (despite it being fighter01.pof which was its initial role as well - it went from being fighter, to odd shaped Terran bomber, to hybrid Terran-Vasudan fighter).

So its quite plausiable.  I'm not 100% certain that this (I may have remembered wrong) is the answer either but its in the runnings and shouldn't be discounted immediately either.

Have a look in the sparky_fs2.vp. (Interface)

There is a file named loadbomber2v-01.pcx
But there is no model called 'bomber2v-01.pof'.

And it looks like the vasudan stealthfighter. Edit: Uhm not the stealth, but another fighter.

Perhaps it was a bomber before.
