Hey Guys,

there is a small font bug all over the game. The     '      as in
"he's "   or   "it's"   isn't visible. Neither in the game, nor in the
briefing or debriefing windows, at least not for me.

Activating the "fix Geforce-Font-Problem" has no effect, no matter if
active or not.

Funny thing, there is one place, where this thing appears, and
that is the "objective-window" on the HUD. All other Hud-Parts
didn't show it.

This failure exist since the ealier days of the SCP, and because not
only our (I mean WC-Saga) mass of messages, but also many
kilrathi-names are depending on it, we would appretiate a bugfix
for this.

Can you do something about that, or is this problem only existing
for me ?

hmm.. you are not the only one with this problem

There's a similar problem with semicolons - if you use one in a message it cuts the rest of the text off.

I think the problem is that semicolons are used internally by the game to denote the end of a string. Goober put in a $semicolon string tag feature to make up for this. The apostrophes always worked fine for me though; maybe it's some non-english version thing?

On a completely unrelated note... how do you fix the blue box around some images on Radeon cards?

Turn Anisotropic Filtering and Anti-Aliasing off. FSO does not like them on ATI cards. Trust me.

Well, I get the characters just fine.

Are you using AA? That really kills the font.

's not the font.. .it's things like the accept, or launch, or create pilot buttons. They'll get little blue borders...

I have 2xAA on and although the text looks a little fuzzy, the apostrophes are still quite visibile. looks like it's specific to certain video cards.

Turning off the -pcx32 command also works for that problem. It seems that the game can use either AA or -pcx32 but having both enabled creates the blue lines.

For me, it doesn't matter if AA is on or off, the apostrophe isn't
visible anytime (except the objectives-windows on the hud , maybe it is using some different font ?) I don't know. AFAIK, there
is only this Tahoma-font all over the game.

Very strange. I tried some more text, and sometimes the apostrophe is
even displayed in the messages. I guess the problem lies between the
graphic-adapter and the font-type.

There is no chance of changing the font, right ?

First of all, are the problem-text using `or '? There's a bit of a difference, so to speak, and I'll need to have my head checked if regular FS2 didn't display ' ok.

It does not display the     '     (the apostrophe).
I figured out that in some cases the message-windows does display it,
but only sometimes.

It really looks like a problem with the FS2-Font and / or the graphik-card.
