Now, I've looked through the faq, readme, past topics, etc, but found no answer for my problems. I'm sorry if this has already been asked...

I'm using Fred2_Open 3.5.5 but after I place a certain number of ships (around 8 or a coupla cruisers) and save, fred crashes. I thought it might be my modded ships.tbl which has 148 ship entries (450kb), so I tried the original tbl with no better results. Please help me or direct me to a post concerning this. Thanks very much.

Try the FRED2 in this build, it's the newest version from CVS.

Hopefully your problem will be fixed by some change in it.

Didn't work. Same thing - tried to load the mission in fred2 that comes with the build and it crashes.

Maybe the mission is corrupt. Try placing the same number of ships in a new mission.

If that works then just open the mission in notepad and you can cut and paste all the briefing and message text across (As well as seeing exactly what events you used).

It's whenever I save a mission after placing a certain number of ships (2cruisers for example). It'll only work with nothing more than a cruiser and a few fighters.

Does that version use HTL by default? FRED2's HTL is really messed up at the moment and seems to be responsible for that and other issues.

Perhaps an older version (that allows high file size of ships.tbl) would work. Can someone direct me to a link for that?
