SERIOUSLY...! | {The Sandvich Bar} - Rhino-FS2 Tutorial | CapShip Turret Upgrade | The Complete FS2 Ship List | System Background Package

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

At the rate it's getting completed currently, it'd be finished in about... well, I can't count that high. It's not going anywhere, Goob. I'm the wrong person to depend on to bring this model to completion. Waiting for me to finish it means you'd never get anything beyond what you have now. If someone else takes it on, the chances of it getting finished increase by an infinite amount. Of course, if you have someone on the TVWP team who can do it, then that's the best of both worlds for you. ;)

Guys, we can always share models.  I mean, the more campaigns they're used in, the better, right?

Why would a ship like that be in TVWP?  Its clearly a post-Capellan-era Vasudan design, succeeding the Hat.  It definitely doesn't look Pre-FS1.

It looks like it could make a Typhon-esque carrier, given the right textures.

Raa should make points and give arguments for making the models more Vasudan then

Someone here is a comedic mundane :p

In all seriousness, Raa's right. It doesn't fit with the design, during the V-T war. Also carrier tactics being used in the war doesn't quite fit with the design of the capships as "plasma lobbers." Subsystem disrupting is important, but mainly for support actions. The main war is moving in big gun platforms (Orions, Fenrises) and lobbing Harbingers to glass the surface of hardened ground targets.

An actual move from generalist to specialist ship design seems more in line for post-FS2.

Wow. Good looking ship.  If there's a pre-HTL version out, somebody send it to me, please.  If not, I'll just wait for the release.  As a model collector, Vasudan models were always some of my favorites. :)

I'm actually quite serious.  Tell me, how many new models pop up on these boards that you never see in a campaign?  Probably most of them.  The really nice ones sit on hard drives collecting dust while the campaigns they were supposed to be used for fold up and die.  Then a new campaign starts and they start making models instead of missions and the cycle begins again.  It's actually kind of sad.  We should be sharing models around.  Sure, they'll have different names for each campaign vs the name the creator gave it, but as long as proper credit is given, who cares?  Let us share the wealth people.

Actually, we went the other way, specialist ships originally (carriers, battleships, etc) giving way to the destroyers due to a variety reasons during the war.  A Vasudan carrier is almost required since they didn't have a destroyer in the early days of the war, and not one worth it's salt until the Typhon.  A few modified textures, and it would fit in quite well and as long as it isn't the size of an Orion, it should work out fine.

It seems I have a powerful ally in these forums.  Eishtmo, we should move to start a union.  Or our own branch on the forums.  Vintage model collectors unite!! :D :D :D

Personally I just don't like the design at all. As an individual ship, it's fine, but as a Vasudan ship, nuh-uh. I hate multiple shafts connecting regions. No ship is like that. The Hatshepsut, even, only has the one. :/

Well, Raa, what do you consider to be Vasudan as far as fan made ships go?  Granted, I can see where you disapprove of some, like this one, the GVCa Tanen (I kinda like it, but not Vasudan enough), and the GVD Bastet (ugly, ugly ship).  But what specific examples can you think of?  I can think of one:  GVC Mafdat.

I've not kept up to date with the models, to be honest. But almost all that I have seen lack, IMO.
