No offence taken at all :)

Though I do feel the need to point out that the SCP is a living, breathing example of what can be achieved by random anonymous people ;) :p

That's quote-worthy right there. ;)

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Selectah is right.  Using any of the songs he mentioned is just ew.

Original/obscure pieces have to be used.  Everyone has seen a movie with HOTMK in it, so when they hear it, it'll ruin the atmosphere of the trailer totally.

Of course, I want to use this, minus the talking at the beginning and end for the intro cut scene to a campaign.  :p

HEhehe, keep the talking at the start and it would make a good intro for Inferno...

'And I saw my mother, and she was calling, and I had to go back....And when I went back, it hurt.'

That's actually kinda what I was aiming at - a trailer with ridiculous musical atmosphere, but powerful imagery that fit (timing-wise) the music. Sort of a "the beach is so crowded, nobody goes there anymore, so let's go there!" attitude.

LOL It was face-off, I think, with Nicholas Cage and John Travolta, there's one fight scene which there are guns blazing everywhere and the soundtrack is Somewhere over the Rainbow. Oddly enough, the contradiction works really well.

I think this thread does need more attention.  A nice FSU Pimp video is desperately needed to help spread the word.

Flipside, that song might work, it's just, IMO anyway, songs with alot of vocals don't do well for exhibition vids.

Personally, I suggest using Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei, aka Adagio for Strings. I'd suggest the choral version of it, but you might run into some copyright issues with Relic Studios, as I believe they had the version I'm thinking of made specifically for Homeworld.

Heh, got a Guitar cab emulator as a late Xmas prezzie :)

I got playing around, this is really more of a 'I wonder what this thing can do' piece, I never even intended it to be this tune at first, but hey, it was fun :D

It's not Agnus Dei ;)

I don't know about Freespace, but it's great for Need for Speed Carbon :p

  • These words make the page load that much slower.
I think a good video would be one with lots of staged shots set to Tapioca Tundra. >_>
Interestingly enough, this signature is none of the following:
A witty remark on whatever sad state of affairs the world may or may not be in
A series of localized forum in-jokes
A clever and self-referential comment on the nature of signatures themselves.

... Let me get this straigh, FSU Pimp is to show off all the improvements in FSO, right?
needs nitrous, mix in a little suspense, plug in a shot of pure horror (have a Sath warp out in front of a player whilst cueing scary music, after you've gotten used to flyin' & fightin' around capships, that'll give you a jolt), plus an ending of mystery.
Of course, those are just words...  I'll see if I can't cob something together just to show you what I mean.  But, in the meantime, what do you think of the description?
