A character of mine...
he's not really fully shaded and i know the legs look kinda weird but aside from that what do u guys think :p
After much debate I decided quotes are a waste of time.

Re: A character of mine...
you could stand to learn some basic character structuring, and the legs are rather short,  and the feet are..... stumpy..
your hands, however, are pretty well developed.

do not torment the sleep deprived artist, he may be vicious when cornered,
in case of emergency, administer caffeine to the artist,
he will become docile after that,
and less likely to stab you in the eye with a mechanical pencil

Re: A character of mine...
As a fellow artist, the thing that is most obvious to me is that you have lots of experience and talent with the body however the head is a little to narrow and lont, its also a bit too small for the shoulders.  Also, the feet seem to be in an akward upward position, they should point down a bit more.  Other than that I like it. keep up the good work.

Re: A character of mine...
It's very promising, the first thing I noticed though was that the feet are at around 90' to each other, whilst the upper torso is twisted around to one side, it makes him look a bit odd. I'm not much of an artist, but I can tell you as an archer that the stance you adopt is similar to a Karate stance, the front leg slightly forward with the leg bent and the rear leg locked into a bracing position to accept the recoil.

That said, I love the  bow! The eagles head in particular is a great job.

Re: A character of mine...
thanks guys :p
sadly enough i used references for the arms and the head of the eagle from pics i took.
The rest of the body i just used this ugly looking human muscle layout diagram for reference  :ick:

well, i can point you to some art instruction stuff, a good start would be Polykarbon, even though it's an anime site, it's also good for basic structuring, dynamics, and whatnot.

for the serious stuff, i reccomend andrew loomis

don't let it scare you.

as for actual books, there's lots and lots around.

to note, if you want to get into inking, etc, try out photo blue, or red pencils, the scanner can't pick them up  :)

Re: A character of mine...
ah i know the whole story with drawing, im just rusty as hell. I go to an art school and my first year was all about charcoal sketches, going anywhere from 40 second sketches of models to 20 minutes....but that was 2 years ago :p
After much debate I decided quotes are a waste of time.
