I found some old screenshots from this mod dating back as far as early 2001, so I'd thought I'd share them for those you haven't been around since those times and haven't seen were we came from.

March 2001 - First shot I could find, technically predates Inferno, no new models just a few reskins

Found them in a folder on my HD. I still have some of the old models like the final version of the Gigas R1 too. Most of the stuff is gone though.

Nov 2002 - Mission 4, close to the final version

From the placement of the two corvettes there I thought that was a new type of ship. :) It looks pretty cool in that perspective.

Well if it was a different ship in that shot it would be considered old now :D

Wow...I remember some of those from the Inferno R1 Beta!

...and I think I was one of the people who wanted to have the Gigas fire at one of the ships...(pretty sure I suggested that)

And I can't remember or not...but you changed the Nemesis mission around, and you took out of the "filler" missions, (the one with the EA and GTVA battlegroup being assaulted by the Shivan bombers and warships.) There was also a few really crap ships...The SC Abel class...I think...only looked slightly like a Cane/Lilith but it also had one texture...

and I was peeved that you took out the really cool kick-ass dumbfire missile. That thing tore through bombers like nothing else!

Plus the little geometry problem with the Maia subspace gate...(one of the inner rotating thingys was off...)

Ah...memories...

That mission was a combined GTVA/EA fleet, we changed the story a bit so that the EA didn't join up until much later so the mission had to go.

The Hurricane dumbfire? it's still in R1. Though I need to get around to making a R2 replacement...

What about a rapid-fire AAA beam cannon?
I mean, a beam cannon that is able to fire as fast as the Hurricane missiles and the beam is as powerful as the missiles are.

The Ryujin has a special AAA beam that fires fast.

IIRC Ryujin is an EA capship. Why don't give every EA capship rapid-fire AAA beams?

(Possible answer: overkill)

Other topic: is the SOC campaign alive?

The Ryujin is an advanced prototype unleashed near the end of the EA War.

There is no SOC fleet, therefore no campaign.

Then those screenshots are product of my imagination.

There was a whole crap load of stuff that didn't make it past the beta release.

And it wasn't the Hurricane...it was like...flak...in missile form...it was dumbfire but packed more of a punch than anything out in R1.

And one of the things they took out was the Vasudan Hammer of light Carrier...whatever it was called...it was big...scary...and...scary...Also the mission against the Nemesis was different...atleast I think it was...Plus alot of filler missions got cut, probably just to move the story along alot faster.

And the last mission with the Gigas was the most changed mission...It's not the little wee, recon with these two destroyer dealie...no...It was alot cooler.

Last Mission From the Beta:

GTVA blockaded a jumpnode, you had to protect 3 destroyers (I think it was 3...) from shivan bombers and fighters while the Capships nuked cruisers, corvettes and Destroyers as they came through the node. It ended with the Gigas jumping in and all the destroyers buggering off. (pansies...)

The new mission is alot better, but that mission was cool in alot of ways...it's not everyday you fly with the best anti-bomber missile...my god...it was awesome...Now that I think about it...it had a nuke symbol on it...but it was a dumb fire missile...like the Tempest, but 15^100000000 times better.

The missile your describing is the ACR. It's still in R1, it was just planned to be used later.

the Vasudan Hammer of light Carrier

Het-Ka? I thought it was a SD.

Hmm I don't remember such a ship, the only other Vasudan ships we've had were the Tempeth and the other large Vasudan carrier from Aldos dump...
The Het-Ka was the only HOL design in the story though.

Yep, it was the Het-ka. It was only in one mission, and was a bit out of place...well it felt out of place for the storyline

And I thought it was the ACR, that missile rules...period...

I can't remember anything else really...

I assume that's, R1 M3, not R1.5 M3, right?

Depends on what part of R1.5 :)

R1.5 had a rebuilt R1 campaign, the R1 SOC chapter, and the R2 chapter 2. So the Het-Ka was in a mission 3 of R1.5.
