Firefly pulling a Family Guy?

Loni Peristere, visual-effects supervisor for the SF movie Serenity, told SCI FI Wire that there's hope for future flights of the cast and crew of the movie, which just came out on DVD.

I hope it's true. I fell completely in love with that show from the first episode.

*steps far, far away from pecenipicek*

It'd be nice if it does happen. Then I might actually try getting into Firefly.

Re: Firefly pulling a Family Guy?
Oh man... that would be amazing. I recently discovered Firefly after seeing Serenity and then seeing all of the Firefly episodes and it's basically my new favorite TV show. I really hope it'll get another chance, hopefully aired in order and with a decent time slot.
Wash: This landing's gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: *shrug* "Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die"?
Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

I think the series is just fun. Nothing meant to be taken to serious. I like the series a lot more the the new BSG...while the new BSG has a more interesting story then the old the damn shaking camera makes me allways...not so importend and not the topic ^_^

Well different people different opinions....

I'm pretty sure pecenipek just likes to say that he thinks stuff sucks just for attention. You guys remember his self-titled rant about a bunch of the HTL ships?

Anyway, I'd really love it if Firefly came back. I didn't see the series, but I saw the movie, and freaking loved it. I absolutely intend to watch the series when I get the chance.

That's true... who'll play with the toy dinosaurs while flying the ship now? Mal sure won't.

Re: Firefly pulling a Family Guy?
starting firefly would probably mean taking money away from galactica, which is in every possible way a bad thing.  serenity wasnt that good.  i saw episodes of firefly, and i thought it just wasnt that good, worse acting than stargate, without all the amusing one liners.

i dont feel as strongly as the p-man, but i am against bringing that series back

The story has to continue because there is one burning question that they haven't resolved: Who the hell is Book, really? Because they made it quite apparent that he wasn't just a preacher.

Anyway, I can't imagine how they'd manage w/o Book and Wash...

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Re: Firefly pulling a Family Guy?
I'll agree with some of the above posts. It just won't be the same without Wash or Book, and now that River's mystery has been cleared up, I don't know what should be done with her or her brother.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have it back. Firefly (and consequently Serenity) is my favorite space opera and sci-fi show since Star Wars.

And could an admin please get read of pec's and ZB's posts, please? This thread doesn't need to be locked just because some people can't keep their heads out of a flame war. :doubt:
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

What it will shorten NBSG...oh please god let Firefly run again ^_^

No not realy. I have to agree with some others that Serenity put an end to the series. It was a last nice oversized Episode and that should be enought. Starting again now after Serenity would be a bad idea.

With respect to Kalfireth, I think the thread deserves to be free of trolling, so I've split off the offending posts into their own locked topic.  But any further flaming in this thread will lead to monkeyage. :)

Maybe they'll discount Serenity or move off on an alternate plotline? Because yea, if they remove those two crew members, the show really doesn't have that much life in it :(

Re: Firefly pulling a Family Guy?
Not going to happen without a lot of work.  And by that I mean a lot of lawyer work.  From what I understand, when the original contract with Fox was signed, there was a stipulation that no new episodes could be made for any other network for 10 years.  We've still got a few years before they'll release it for episodes.  Now for other mini-movies or something, I don't know, maybe they can do something.  Hell, they released a comic, so who knows.

Oh, and I believe SciFi doesn't actually have any financial power over nBSG.  They pay them to show it, but nothing else.  Some British company is footing the bill for most of it.  I think NBC is in on the deal too, but I'm not sure exactly how.
Warpstorm  Bringing Disorder to Chaos, And Eventually We'll Get It Right.

I know there is a method, but all I see is madness.

Sky footed 50% of the bill for season 1 of BSG (and insisted on getting a world exclusive premier in return). From what I understand Sci-fi weren't stupid enough to let that happen a second year in a row.

Quite possibly the smartest decision Sky ever made.  Although no doubt financed by tens of hundreds of completely pointless Sky Gnome sales......

Come now, just because they're filthy and illiterate should be no reason to discriminate against them. Some of history's greatest people managed quite well without either a book or a wash. Think of Genghis Khan for one.

Wait a minute, I saw Serenity but I forgot-- when did Book die? His character is driving me crazy because I wanted to find out who he really was.
