they did have a poster at E3, iirc. could be a pic of that one.

it's the real deal, nothing much, to note, it was from bethseda, saying so much as "yes, we are developing it"

search around duck and cover and no mutants allowed for any further snippets.

also, speaking of post-apoc games, "STALKER: Oblivion lost/shadows of chernobyl/yadda yadda" has been reputed to have gone into beta, at least there's some news of it coming out.

Seconded.  Why was this even brought up?  We all know that FS3 is a sore subject around here, and the fact that this thread has gone on as long as it has (civilized, no less!!) kind of blows my mind.

Whoever brought up the idea of FS3 becoming a real thing...aftet 7 years...is a very cruel person! Lets find whoever did this and keel haul them! + 500 lashes with a Cat of Nine Tails w/ fish hook barbs on the end... :mad: :mad2:

Clearly you have never played Derelict.  No offense to Inferno, but there are such better campaigns out there from which to draw "closest to FS3" mentions.

I believe he praises Inferno as 'closest to FS3 as we're gonna get' namely in terms of adding new content. Derelict may have one of the best campaign stories out there, but Inferno has three completely new Fleets, and - at least aesthetically - is the most 'sequel-like' of FS2's pantheon of mods.

Quite honestly, I dont want Freespace 3, at least untill the BIG  community campaigns have been released.  We now have Derelict fixored up to SCP specs, and completely voice-acted head to toe, from the community.  Others like Inferno, BWO, and other stories that stay in the freespace universe should be released first, before an FS3 or FS3-like game is released.  I'd hate to see a game like that steal the thunder of the community's projects, which have been in the works for many years now.  I'd love to see something new along the lines of Freespace/Descent/whatever because I LOVE that whole universe.  Another spinoff perhaps?  Freespace was a spinoff of Descent.  I mean the title WAS "Descent: Freespace. The Great War"  An official continuation of the story would be nice, but we have so many homegrown stories to tack on to the end of FS2 already.  I think that the Freespace story should belong to the community, and we see something new along the lines of Freespace come out. 

And quite honestly, why lock the thread.  I've seen healthy discussion and not a flame war start from this topic.  Just because your feelings get hurt doesnt mean we should lock it.  Discuss and contemplate, but realize that this is only speculation.
