I get this error everytime I try and start FSopen. Im usinf v367, Im using 5.3 launcher - but it brings up this error and tells me I need a launcher version above 5.0 ... which I already have.

I have the media VPs, Ive tried them in a mod and not, and Ive tried running without activating the mod.

one thing though... FS was installed in c:/program files/freesp...etc so I moved it to c:/games/free...etc. does this matter?

C:/Games/... works better, but it's in no way required.  Technically the only thing that doesn't like being installed in /Program Files/ is the launcher, and then only when the -mod selection button is used.

The error sounds like some kind of registry issue.  The only entry in the registry controls the resolution though so you shouldn't have any issues.  In the launcher, make sure you've visited the "Video" tab and that everything there is in order, as this is what sets up that registry entry.

Ive done that, but I still get issues. However, for some reason now, when I run the normal FS.exe, its in a high resolution.

do you have an onboard video card? (the one that's built in to your computer)

I vaguely remember hearing that this one goes away upon installing OpenAL but I can't think why that could possibly be true.

IF you want to give it a try you can find the installer in the first post in the CVS Builds Thread in the recent builds forum.


Actually before you you do that double check that it's not trying to run in D3D5 mode from the video tab of the launcher.

whoops, yes that seemed to be the problem. :/
however now I get this alert which confuses me even more

Bad tables.  Using a post 3.6.7 media VP and a build no newer than 3.6.7 will do that.

I got the media VPs form the stikeyed thread... what should I be downloading?
