Just out of pure curiosity, can someone point out where the fighter bay is on the Hecate.  I know in one of the missions you started on a platform here in this general area:

but that doesn't say where the hanger is.  I've always wondered.
"War is like playing a game of chess.  You move units on a field, and stratiegically try to weaken the opposing force, a sort of... elequent ballet.  Sure you might lose a few units,.... but, at times, it all part of the plan..."

Its under the Hecate, near the front of the ship.  between the forward arms.

Yeah well, somethings are just placed in odd positions where I typically don't look.

You can fit a cruiser into the hecate's bay.
actualy, mabye not.

Ever looked at the Sath's bay? You can get 9 shivan cruisers in there. It's retarded.

Some people have proposed that the big winglike things had magentic clamps or somesuch so you could get fighters out rapidly after an intersystem jump. Would be a neat feature to add with multidocking now...

Next time you have this problem simply open it up in FRED and turn the model dock points on. Makes it very easy to spot the hangar bays :)

Interesting thought, using those fins as a scramble point. at any rate it would look cool to see a wing of perseus interceptors just sitting there when the hecate jumps in.

Does anyone else think that the new destroyers in FS2 have pretty lame looking fighterbays compared to the old FS1 warships? The Orion had that cool runway and the Typhon and Lucifer both had short tunnels leading inside. in FS2, the Hecate's fighterbay is in a strange place and is really just a big hole in the hull and the Hatshepsut's fighterbay locations are decent but they don't have any tunnels. And the worst fighterbay ever appears in FS2: that sad little triangular hole on the Colossus. You would think a ship that carries "over 60 fighter and bomber wings" and has a "vast hangar" wouldn't have a fighterbay so small that a single Ursa can barely fit through it.

Maybe they queue the traffic. :p

And I agree 100% with you, the hangars are just big holes on ships in FS2. FS1 ships are IMO superior in design and texturing in general compared to FS2.  :D

Also in the list of ugly fighter bays: The Ravana. The Demon has these great tubes that go way back into the ship but the ravana has what? Little easter egg looking things with bad textures that look more like a soup bowl than a fighter bay.

The new HTL hecate bay looks better though because it has a door looking thingy. The colossus fighterbay is aweful. I hope whoever is doing the htl version spices it up a little.

What I wanna know is where are all those 60 fighter/bomber wings or so when they're under attack?  They just lounging around going "eh alpha and beta can handle it back to poker night"

True, true. Id like to see all 60 wings out attacking the godam sathy and enemy craft, instead of dying. Would have put a much better chance. Think of 60 fighters all spamming lazers and torns into a sathy. Imagine the damage..

I actually have never noticed that the Hecate's fighterbay is on its underside. Interesting; as the Hecate is my bestest favortitist ship in all freespace 2!!!

You actually used "bestest" in a sentence.  Wow.  Just wow.

The Hecate's fighterbay is not particularly interesting, but it's still better than the Ravana.  Fighters emerging from a solid wall is at least a little shady.

Here you go.

Battle Of Endor Style Bearbaiting :D

I haven't tried this in anything other than FRED in months though so don't be surprised if it doesn't work. There are two versions in the rar try the Should-Work version first as the bug should be resolved that made the other one work instead.
