Hi

I just started working my way through the whole fred manual but I'm stuck in the long Walkthrough because if I want to test the stuff I created the Mission just don't show up in the Mission Simluator (the finished version "shipyard-completed.fs2" included with FRED doesn't show up in the mission simulator either).
I've searched through the forum and read dozens of threads, but this problem seems nowhere to be mentioned so I guess it's a really weird one or I'm just stupid. ^-^

Does anyone know how this can be fixed? I really enjoyed playing through FS2 and now I want to start experimenting with FRED and make my own missions, maybe someday a whole campaign.

I use the FS2 download from HOTU (must be Version 1.20 I think)

Would be great if anyone can help me

And try following.. go to Tech Room, select Mission Simulator from the top selection menu. Then select in lower selection menu (lower left corner) Single Missions. And another check of that didnt function... Make sure your mission files (.fs2) are in freespace folder or in one of the subfolders (like data/missions)...

And for good guide how to upgrade to FS Open, read Karajorma's FAQ

You'll probably find "ship-yard Completed.fs2" in your freddocs folder. Move it to missions and it's avaliable as per Wanderer's instructions.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I already clicked that "Single Missions" button without anything showing up there.

The Mission files are in the freddocs-Folder. I was already curios about that, but I don't move them away because the Documentation says:

Do not change directories; all missions have to go in a certain directory, and FRED2 puts them there by default.

I've moved the files to the missions folder now and it's working (doh).
I will read your upgrade Guide later, now it's time for some testing. ^-^
