And since the search function has been stolen I might as well ask.

I need a list of ships used in the FS2 main campaign. As much as I would love to play the game straight through and jot it all down I just don't have the time. I may have to though.

Basically it's gonna be an offshoot mini that doesn't revolve around Alpha 1 but occurs during the same time. I'd like to give it a real feel by having it "current".

I swore there was a thread about it, but everything has changed around so much......

My ship database should be on the wiki somewhere. There are two or three "secret" official ships that aren't in there (I only recently found out about them), but it should have everything else.

As long as you give whoever made it credit it should be okay but it doesn't hurt to ask though (unless it's available for download somewhere like hades combine) and then it still might be nice for a mention anyway.

In some cases, yes. Typically, if its a major ship in another campaign, people will see your campaign as simply trying to play off of the recognition and popularity of the other campaign (i.e. the Persistence from Sync, or the Generation from Transcend).

If its a ship that only plays a minor role or shows up as a cameo, it should be alright. You still might want to ask the original campaign developers, though, assuming they're still around.

I think he meant using an official ship that happens to be also used in some other campaign. Nothing wrong with that as far as I am concerned.

If you want to use a ship like the Warspite which appeared in FS2 then no one can really stand in your way. FS canon belongs to you just as much as anyone else ('cept and Interplay of course ) and it would be rather inappropriate for someone to claim they have all rights to a Canon ship just cause they made a campaign with it in.

Just make sure the ship you use hasn't been canonically destroyed prior to your campaign Or if that's the case, make it a different, newer ship class and it'll be 'carrying on the proud name and tradition of the GTC/Cv/D Whatever into the next century'. Or something.

Well see that's the great (or so I think) part. This campaign (it's in 2 parts) deals directly with the NTF Rebellion and the Shivans but not as Alpha 1. It's almost like a "what you missed" party. So there will be ships you haven't heard of, and the ones you have heard of will make sense. There just won't be any action directly related to the FS2 main.

I want it to be as real as possible. Unfortunately I've created a 2 part series that has about 18 missions each.    The good thing is there is nothing new. So I suppose I have to be a good storyteller/mission builder.

Well story is written mainly. I'm in the "let's make sure there's continuity" section.

Course the next section is scripting..... so who knows. Who's leg do you have to hump to get a subforum?

GTD Bastion offers free hosting. So does Game Warden, and since it's the most popular of the two forums, you'll get better publicity there. Ransom Arceihn's site also hosts Freespace campaigns, though it is a bit of a stretching distance from the main FS community.

Still, if you need help with story editing or just making sure things stay continuous, I'd be more than happy to set some time aside for a little story work or just mission scripting (read: writing missions scripts != FREDing).
