Looking for The Fringe....
Hey everyone, I know I've posted about this a while back, but I'm still having trouble tracking down a copy of Tachyon:The Fringe.  I sadly misplaced my copy awhile back, and have a hankering to listen to Bruce Campbell swoon the ladies and kick some butt.

Anytips on where i can find this game by any means would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Looking for The Fringe....
I quite liked it to be honest, it wasn't brilliant, but it wasm't terrible either. My main complaint was the combat Engine left a lot to be desired, but the ship designs were pretty good, and the storyline was a good attempt, it didn't work all the time, but I liked the idea of a Pilot being set-up to take a fall. I don't think they covered the vengeance angle as well as they could have, but it could have been worse.

Re: Looking for The Fringe....
sure tachyon had its flaws, but it was above average by far, definitely better than somma the offerings out there at the time of its release.
bruce cambell certainly brough somma his own personality into it, too.

Re: Looking for The Fringe....
i can see how the plot might apeal to somone in a b movie kinda way. but it was not my thing. i perfer a more serious plot in my games. as a space sim it was pretty bad. had they added a trade engine maybe it would had been beter, i mean you could already buy and sell ships and weapons, theyed jus have had to add cargo and non-mission flight. maybe it was cause i was spoiled by freespace. as a comedy game it was ok if youre into that b movie humor. but i bought it as a space sim, hell i didnt even know who bruce campel was at the time, i played it and when done i neve touched it again. if i didnt think i could make some cash selling it at a garage sale, id sacrifivce it to the microwave god. :D

That Hajod person sounded both gay and creepy... Very unnerving :shaking:

Oh.. And that slot machine in New Vegas was just sweet. Simple thing really, and usually gave those crappy 50 credit winnings. But once the gaming fever hits, it's hard to stop playing. I got me a new ship couple of times thanks to winning the the jackpot.

Woulda been better if they'd had some 'boinking the flight-control lady' cutscenes.

British accents are not 'hot'.

Middle-class accents are hot. Southerners just sound like assholes, but get a nice girl whose dad's a doctor and lives in one the ****-hole farming villages like Catterick and you're golden.

Funny how the prejudice against 'Southerners' in the UK gets about. And then they wonder why we get pissed off against it.
