US, IIRC.
Ah, I see.
Well "bloody hell" is an often alternative to "holy ****" in Australia. "Bloody" isn't really used all that often except for as an adjective when other 'curse' words would seem over zealous or too rude.
I remember back in the 90's (lol sounds funny) the government used to run an ad on TV "If you drink and drive, your a bloody idiot." Which, I think in turn deteriorated the severeness of the word bloody and idiot because everyone started saying and using it.
Makes you think, if there was no censorship on TV at all, within a decade it would become very hard to shock-insult someone using conventional words. To me, they are just words. I predict the use of the word "****" to diminish eventually too, as all the kids are running around saying it now a days. Words lose their tact and shock impact after a while. I consider them extended fads.
Whether it is for the better or not I can't say. The older folk see it as offensive I think because its attached to bad connotations for them. Back in the day, if you said a curse word out loud, it would often be followed by a vigorous flogging or the cane. Parents these days are very slack compared to the older generations I believe.
