I must also mention that the Dark Brotherhood kicks way more ass than the Morag Tong (ironic, I hated the brotherhood in tribunal). The Morag Tong writs in Morrowind were just like "walk into bar, kill this guy, walk into a shop, kill this guy, etc.", whereas the Dark Brotherhood contracts are stuff like "stab guy with special poisoned knife to fake his death, flee to avoid being jalied for murder, sneak back into town, sneak into morgue underneath chapel, give antidote to wake him back up, sneak him out of town."

Plus the guy who gives you your assignments is a vampire.

Re: For Lord Dagon is Forever Reborn in the Waters
A killer app kind of has to be unique (at least initially at release) for the system, anyways.  Morrowind would seem to be an excellent game, but it's not exclusive; the definition of a killer-app for a gaming system has always been that you need to buy that system for it - Halo for the Xbox 1, Mario on any Nintendo console, GTA for the PS2, etc.

Check the reader reviews. If you don't own Oblivion, what the hell are you doing with your 360 (other than playing GRAW)?

Selling it on ebay?

That should be enough evidence to prove Oblivion is a killer-app for the 360 and a must-buy for the PC.

Not you again.

And as long as it's console exclusive it can be considered a killer-app for most casual gamers who don't have a tip-top PC.

Roger that, killer-app...
And I thought I could play it on Celeron 600Mhz

But seriously, I'm wondering whether someone will make patches reducing the minimal specs of this nice game :)

Tut tut.  Not reading the post fully, I see.

(actually, I don't know why that 'kind' is there.  Essentially, a killer app is something that is, for some point in time, the justification for buying said thing, i.e. the 'unique selling point'; something that's released simulataneously across 2 or more formats is not a USP, even if one format is the PC.  Plus, there is an additional arguement that it has to mesh with the consoles image and thus be inexorably linked, something which means generic games or genre games like Pro Evo, even whilst being utterly superb, aren't considered killer-apps even if they are both good and exclusive)

The Morag Tong was an interesting concept, but implimented poorly. This Dark Brotherhood is even more fun than the Daggerfall "kill this noble in this house and sneak or run from the guards" which admittedly was barely scripted and mostly due to your imagination due to the Doom style graphics/tech/etc.

exclusive denotes that it's only for the 360, i saw oblivion when i got my xb360 (and contrary to popular belief, it didn't explode, embedding shards of console in my face), i saw oblivion there, for the 360, and i didn't get it, why?.. 'cuz i'm fairly confident that my PC will run it reasonably, it's not top of the line quad SLI'd speed demon or whatnot, but if it can run FEAR with all the bells and whistles on (sans AntiAliasing) with no real issues, then oblivion should run alright on my PC.

Oh, yeah, except that 99/100 of the mods for Morrowind were complete ****. I can name two that I consider good: Siege of Firemoth(and that was an official mod, too) and Better Bodies.

Re: For Lord Dagon is Forever Reborn in the Waters
I missed the better bodies mod...

I have Morrowind on PC and Xbox (both game of the year editions -ie all expansion packs for those who don't follow it) and I actually preferred it on Xbox. Before I get hung by the "not normal" committee, this was before I had my own computer that could run it well to speak of. So it was great just being able to sit back and play morrowind to my heart's content smoothly and without hassel (minus the odd crash or freeze up, damn annoying =S ).

Maybe I should reinstall it on here and play it with high graphics while I wait for $ to get oblivion. :)
First I'm going to get a gig stick of RAM though, 512mb just doesn't cut it. :(

That or play WoW. :D

Re: For Lord Dagon is Forever Reborn in the Waters of Oblivion...
Been playing the game for four days now and absolutely love it. Few things like the levelled items/monsters are a bit annoying but the modding community is already working on fixing those. Anyway, less talk and more screenies of the gorgeous graphics!

Ah, a beautiful sunrise. Nice start for a day in the wilderness.

Typical. I hate overcast. Oh well, nature still looks bright and... uhm, green.

Found myself in a creepy dungeon.

The imperial city looks like it's very close, but it will take me a long while to walk (run) from where I'm standing.

It started raining, so I had to find a shelter. An ancient haunted elven ruin would do just fine.

The said ruin from inside, after I had cleaned up the place from annoying ghosts. I was so dissapointed not to find the Deathbringer +5 from that raised platform. Levelled items and lack of unique equipment sucks.

Ah, outside again and off to another adventure.

1) You need to shelter from rain?
2) Levelled items?

1) No... but you just have to poke your nose into every single dungeon you come across.

2) Idiotic system that the devs put in place to balance things out. In essence, the enemies and items are always (more or less) the same level with you. At level 1 you simply won't find a mithril shield anywhere in the world, but at level 20+ every single roadside bandit has full ebony armour. Kinda takes away the fun of exploring, as everything is always about as difficult as it was way back at level 1. I've yet to find a dungeon that's impossible to my mage.

Re: For Lord Dagon is Forever Reborn in the Waters
Which makes leveling redundant because you can rule the world at level 1 (well not really).

Though for those of us who don't want to level, this is great.

Re: For Lord Dagon is Forever Reborn in the Waters of Oblivion...
i am still yet to find a copy of the PC version anywhere on the shelves in devonport, a POX on harvey norman!

--slightly off topic---
(they're a retail chain in australia, the devonport store is aparrently known for its lack of customer service and fleecing of customers..... and their improper training techniques for new employees, which is, the acid test "Here's your seat, there's your work, good luck with understanding what you have to do, the staff know Sweet bugger all about what you have to do, and i'm usually out of the office for extended periods of time". that sorta thing)
