do not torment the sleep deprived artist, he may be vicious when cornered,
in case of emergency, administer caffeine to the artist,
he will become docile after that,
and less likely to stab you in the eye with a mechanical pencil

Yeah, I don't think that really works.  for one thing, the 'red' is unsettling and 'unnatural' (robes are usually white).  I'd have gone the other way, have the background darker than said robes, in order to try and emphasise that feeling of pettiness (namely the 'holier than thou' aspect).

Well what should I put in the background? Behind the pillars? Suggestions? I was thinking of windows but that might pull the focus away from the center.

Nothing, I'd say.  sometimes the art is in restricting detail, not adding it, and I think this would be a perfect case.

Or, ask your art teacher and do the exact opposite.

Well there has to be at least some sort of color there, at least faintly - it can't be totally blank imo.

Gentle mottled yellow/brown, like slightly aged sandstone.

I'd say just more arches, like they are supporting columns and not part of the walls.  It would look more like a real cathedral that way, IMHO.  Do you need color, or structure?
who needs a signature? ;)
It's not much of an excuse for a website, but my stuff can be found here

I was originally going to put more arches, but I eventually didn't, and then I started painting, so I couldn't :(

Buuut here we go...I'm pretty sure this is done. What do you all think? (It's all straight up and down, but in the picture it's crooked because of the camera):

Note to self: next time, get better paper. All those bumpy looking things? That's the paper shredding itself.

  • From the ashes...
Coming along nicely. :)
The pinkish red of the robes are kinda moot though.
