You can't really compare BHX to a "normal" campaign.
BHX won't have a story or more complex missions, so they work with all the races from what I heard.
You are quite wrong there my friend. BHX does have a story,

many stories. Let me give you a little more info on it. In BHX you pick your side, then you pick the enemies side. Once you have picked both participating sides then the fun begins. There will be multiple storylines why the war starts eg. holy wars, resources, base attacks etc. (an intro explaining how the war starts which will be random for every campiagn) Then we have adopted a pilots view of the war. The pilot (voice acted) flies many missions during the course of the war, then depending on how the war goes you will have different endings. There will be a huge choice of missions, some will include - assination missions (you have to destroy an enemy general) Fleet offensive missions (big space battles a-foot when yours and the enemies fleet do battle) Spy elimination (kill the enemy spy before he escapes) base defence (the enemy has launched an attack on one of your bases). There are lots of different missions which will be different every time you play them (missions ships & fleet sizes will vary in every mission)
So in general BHX has many different storylines which take your desired war through many inevative & challenging missions
