the start of something small....

No renders here, sorry. I'm trying to collate all my work and place it one proper website or webpage, where everything can be easily accessible. I'm struggling through learning html coding atm (the results of which are utter crap, I can assure you), however, I'm already beggining to make some of the artwork for the website, if nothing else.

Here's the top title/banner/thing and the navigation frame image so far. I'm hoping to get feedback and stuff, along with maybe some tips and advice on not only *where* I can get hosting for the site, but as to how to go about making it in the first place. In any case, ze first crappeh images:

What kind of background were you thinking? If it is something like in that banner, it might be a health hazard (too brightly coloured). If it's not, then you better have a good way of making the banner fit there smoothly, or it'll poke someones eye out. :)
I like the banner text, but the "navigation" should have same font. Now they don't really fit well together. Otherwise its a good start. :yes:

AS for tips and advice... Try to make the site easy on the eyes. Too much details is bad. And exploring it should be simple and fast.

i've already got a rudimentary site up, needs ****loads of work, but I just got Nvu and the basics down as well, so it should start going smoothly soon enough. I'll most likely change the banner, tho. Either change the background to a plain back image with the words and a proper logo/symbol replacing the navigation one. However the overall pattern will remain the same, for the most part.

Also, site's been updated a bit. Hopefully it should be done by the end of the week. Nothing fancy here, though.

Looks good. Plain and simple, easy on the eyes. Like you said, nothing fancy. But does it need to be? I have cursed every flash contraption I have encountered. I don't want to wait for some meaningless jerky animation and stupid music to load.

About the index tho... Its moving around when you go from page to page... In the main, it's on the left side, but then moves towards the center when you go to the shipyards for example. It disturbs me. :wtf:

As Prophet said, there's absolutely nothing wrong with having nothing fancy. ;)

Also, "Alternate Productions"? You trying to set yourself up as a rival over there? :p ;)

My advice: bug Skippy for help when you need it. He's a whizz with websites as well as database / php side of things as well. :)

I'd help you if I had the time, which at the moment (in the middle of exams) I don't. :(
I've been meaning to go on a website creation spree myself actually to build up my portfolio.
