That does it, this sealed the deal for me. Spore = best game at E3, and best friggin game in a loooooooooong time. Here is a video of mister Williams playing it and basically going nuts with the creature customization in it. I can't remember the last time I wanted a game as bad as this.

Looks good, but my impression of the Robin Williams demo was that the editors were verging on out-of-control behavior.  Not that it's a bad thing, (and it's no safe bet that he had any idea what he was doing other than running around with the mouse), it's just not the highly precise function that the Spore editors have been touted as.  Still, lots of promise.

Actually, it is HIGHLY customizable. If you watch any of the videos where Will is demoing the game, he goes rather in depth one how to mold and customize all the various features of your creature. Robin basically took the seat and went ape**** with the game, and that showed something more impressive than what Will and the devlopers are toting. They are saying that you can go all in depth with the editor and make these amazing creatures, or you can be like Robin and just putz around with it until you create something that would make God weep.

I don't know, I usually play the sandbox games for a few hours and then put them down for lack of direction. That's basically the reason I don't play MMOs or Civ-type games there's no motivation to progress other than to progress.'

That said, Spore look mighty interesting, so I give it better odds of sticking.

Spore actually starts out with a direction, that is, to get to the inter-galactic level. It's then that you get the sandbox mode. Kind of your reward for getting that far.
I'm sure you'ld then realise that there's a lot of things to play with to keep you on it for longer.

I have a very wide ranging taste in gaming, but nothing really grabs me like Spore does. I can wait for everything else, and it wouldn't matter if they did or didn't come out, Spore is another matter.
