Ah more unnessesary iPod hate.
I have an iPod and love it to death. When I went to buy my MP3 player I know I wanted one with a very large capacity and that was cheap, I opted for a 20GB iPod Photo and now I can't even leave the house with it. It's speed and battery life are just awesome, the only problem I have with it is that it destroys sound with high bass levels, but that's just audio compression for you anyway.
Also for anyone that likes that kind of stuff, the iPod development and third-party software in the form of iPod Linux is nothing short of brilliant.
All of these people saying the iPod is a fashion statement and that's why it sucks need to kiss my arse. I personally couldn't give a **** what using an iPod says about me, when I'm listening to it, it's hidden in the bottom of my bag and all you can see are these headphones coming out of the corner. (Not the original ones.)
Come on, mobile phones are way more fashionable and mine is about 5 years old still bleeping away with it's monochrome screen. If it sends and recieves calls it's good enough, hence why when I bought my iPod I wanted a music player with a large capacity. Even though I'm about a couple of GB from maxing it now. =/
As for iTunes, what the hell is up with iTunes? I've not once bought a single song using it and I class the syncing feature as nothing short of a godsend, it's so easy to categorise my music exactly how I'ld want to using it's library. On my PC it only serves as my iPod syncing software, I don't use it for playing music and it's never doing anything else. Plus if you don't like iTunes there are scores of third-party syncing software.
The most ridiculous arguments I've heard are from people who go all "Oh Mac sucks I hate Apple." Oh yeah, that really has a lot to do with the iPod. Both products coming from totally different deptartments of what is a huge organisation, gimmie a break.
Anyone else?
