By the way, Janos, no ivory billed woodpecker have been sighted since the woodpecker team started the search. Hope you aren't too dissapointed.
****ing amateurs cannot even identify Pileated Woodpecker, laffo.
I thought it was a bit waste of time and money to start up the team without some really strong evidents.
Have you seen the video? It's craptastic. Seriously. It's a black and white dot flying directly away from the camera. And said black-and-white dot looks pretty much like a pileated woodpecker, as far as you can tell, because the entire video is pixelated, lighting is poor, picture is small, there's tremendous artifact compression and all kinds of stuff.
I must admit that I bought the hype until someone linked me to the video. Then I read about the finders' excursions and attempts to prove that their woodpecker was an IWB, not Pileated. It's tragicomic. The other sightings are as bad as the first one, except that later sightings are not documented at all. I will also question the sanity of those who use a wooden mock-up as some kind of evidence.
It's a schoolbook example of bad birdwatching. Short sighting? Check. Vid "not looking like the real thing"? Check. Trying to make the facts suit the theory? Check. Nebulous voice identifications? Check. Only one observer? Check.
