what can i say about brazil... Football: Ronaldinho best damn football player in the world, exotic people and of course the rainforest.

More than brazillian portuguese, I dislike people who confuse either portuguese with spanish/french.

Actually, it was a shorthand for the Football Association from when the Rugby code split.  So it's only an abbreviation of the rules of one country - England - and even then only really applies to when the sport is played under a specific set of rules rather than in general.  i.e. 5-a-side is not 'soccer', because it's not FA rules.  Neither is playing wally or world cuppie - but all are unquestionably football.

And we invented the sport, so we pick the name.  Plus FIFA -  Fédération Internationale de Football Association.  Even CONCACAF uses Football for the sport.
