Independence War II was kind of fun, but extremely boring at the same time.

Wing Commander was the major competitor for Freespace, but ultimately didn't mesure up in a lot of people's opinion.

Happy birthday.

X-Wing versus TIE Fighter (and the earlier X-Wing and TIE-Fighter), plus X-Wing Alliance. Though I must say I like XvT and other earlier ones better than XWA... even though you can get XWA look quite pretty via XWA upgrade project (which is somewhere in the Internet). XWA has a story... kind of. It's nothing compared to TIE Fighter story, though.

There was a "Collector's Edition" that had X-Wing, TIE Fighter and XvT together, with the former two being upgraded graphically to match XvT level. If you ever find it somewhere, get it, especially if you haven't played TIE Fighter through. It has a good storyline IMO. And read Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy.

...

Why are you all staring at me like that? It's great fun playing XvT in multiplayer - yes, people still are doing that. You don't have time to spare for oggling at fancy graphics - though sometimes the über-supar-A1 class FX does cheer you up a bit...

Yes, I'm a Star Wars fanboy - even though everything made after The Empire Strikes Back has been slowly descending towards the steaming pile of Sith that ended the series. Honestly, the prequels could've been so much better if Lucas had just told the story to someone who could actually direct movies, like he did with both Empire and Jedi... :sigh:
There are three things that last forever: Abort, Retry, Fail - and the greatest of these is Fail.

Someone needs to move this thread over to the main forum.

And nexus is far from similar to FS. The only thing they have in common is having space ships.

Nexus is to Homeworld what Ground Control is to Command & Conquer.

Nexus is to Homeworld what Ground Control is to Command & Conquer.

That really is the best description of Nexus.
It's a really a gorgeus game to see with a good story too, but if you're going to play it, NEVER lose a single ship, it's just way too hard, took me days to finish it. On other space games, everybody here already said all the good ones.

Nexus is good. And very pretty. The beginning is best. Those shieldless shoeboxes with spinning sections
Then came wussy shileds and stupid green alien ships that look like something I dug from my nose earlier today... And the AngelWing, :ick: Horrible design.
And the missions started to be too tricky. Too much thinking and clever moves and puzzles. Not enought straight meat and potatoes fighting. Same thing with Homeworld. I'd like to admire the garphics and fighters doing their death dance. But too busy trying to keep things under control and producing ships in to the grinder.

Well dont know about you people but freelancer and starlancer seemed like decent ones.

also Nexus rock's big time. and who sais you can not go around bashing everyone?? Hell i did it I went with the Angelwing againts 2 batleships an one cruiser. and evntualy won the bloddy arguement with them manging to convince them while shoving hot plasma down they throats that parking in a no batlership parking area due to wide arse blocking the view up in front in and absolute truth.

but now seriously I did not find the game that dificult well not uless you count those what you call them with the sphere and stuff like that. Forgot theyr names. Also taking out the Erath fleet and Noah defence forces at the end was a way cool fun stuff. Almost got mi arse busted 3 times during that mission thatk god for sheald/engive overload.

So true, the beginning of Nexus was like playing a B5 fleet tactics simulator. Orgasmic. :)

There's no official B5 game, movie, series or book of that name.
