Me = glad pretty much everyone likes it. I think it will end up depending on looking better if I spend more time on them and so on - but this new found control should be good.

the creator, put HAF after on the fuselouge after he did the shadow rendering. it happens alot to some people if they dont look down there pics thuroughly, unless he did this on purpose to view the logo's.

Actually it has been done on purpose  using refractive properties on that particular surface. The HAF lettering have been stencelled  using builion options in modeller. The effect should be like the yellow stripes on the road when hit by headlights, or the POLICE writing on the back of the dust coats of the law enforcment officer working the highway patrol.
It has attributive properties which actually refract the light. Similar effect can be obtained by using glow in lightwave surface option panel but not as gradually as this.

This is not a good examble as it has been JPGed and compressed to feature here. So it has lost much dettails.

For that matter, why would we paint our ships anything but black?

As any one ever worked with a non refractive or reflective surface, thus black?

Damn hard to see when placing your camera.
A part from esthetics but that can be too easily spotted, but the main reason why the HAF writing, (only in the wings instance) is refractive is the composition of the material used to paint it. It actually works on nutrinos unitron charged particles.
It gives them a distinct signature and nomenclature.

It helps the long range scanners on Osiris to pin point the location of its wings. No matter what system.
Maintining contact for each nominated vassels with the war room at Osiris Station is highly imposed during Def con 3 status.
      ...and we are at war.

Tried that- the model was never satisfactorially converted (damn TS), but those things were friggin' IMPOSSIBLE to hit-mostly because I made them stealth units as well

If you paint an Aeolus black, you get this:

You work out how hard that is to hit
