ITTLE ROCK, Ark. Jun 29, 2006 (AP)— The Arkansas Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a lower court's ruling that a policy banning homosexuals from becoming foster parents is unconstitutional.

The high court said no connection exists between a foster child's well-being and the sexual orientation of that child's foster parents.

"There is no correlation between the health, welfare and safety of foster children and the blanket exclusion of any individual who is a homosexual or who resides in a household with a homosexual," Associate Justice Donald Corbin wrote in the opinion.

The Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services had appealed a 2004 decision by Pulaski County Circuit Court Judge Tim Fox, who said the Child Welfare Agency Review Board could not bar homosexuals from becoming foster parents.

I think that's all you need to say, really.  If there was some known disadvantage to child welfare - greater than being stuck in an orphanage for their childhood - then there's an arguement.  But there's not.

If anything, Gay couples would be more scared of their child growing up Gay, because Homophobes will try to use that as 'proof' of them raising gay children. Not that it would matter if the kid did happen to be Gay with Gay parents, their's another name for people that do something about that, and nobody likes paedophiles.

In general they are racist, but that doesn't mean all of them are, just like most Americans are stupid, most Europeans are full of themselves, and most Aussie's are rednecks, the thing is most generalizations about people get skewed, just like all of the ones above already are, and then people start substituting most with all. Some categorization is necessary, but you can't just classify everyone in an area like that. And I'm not saying a lot of people in the South aren't fundi-zombies, but in the end, you need to remember that there are human beings down there... somewhere.
