Well, i've decided to get myself an electric guitar, an Epiphone Junior, i've heard from some places its crap, from some its good, but nothing stellar...

it costs around $100, and from what i think, for that price, its an entry-level guitar, and well.. i'm just starting so i dont need anything better. any ideas or advices for me regarding it?

"The Poor can't afford to buy bad quality."

Ie. if you plan not to be a beginner forever, you'll be probably needing a better guitar after some time. Let's say that your first guitar costs this 100 $. Then, after a year, you have to buy another one because the cheap ones quality is not enough any more, and you find a nice guitar that costs 200 $, and buy that. After a while, you have to buy a 300$ guitar... and at that point, you have spent 600 $ on three guitars, when you could've gotten the 300$ guitar in the beginning - or better still, you could've gotten even a very good one for 600 $, instead of a cheap, a better and a good one at that 600 $.

I'd say buy a good guitar if you plan to be playing more than randomly. If you just want to play randomly, that'll be good enough as it'll take you years to actually learn to play by randomly plucketing the thing.  :D With a good guitar, it'll probably be more rewarding and more fun to be a beginner.

And if your interest dies out, you can sell the good guitar for as much as it cost you. Musical instruments don't lose their value, like, say, electronics does.
There are three things that last forever: Abort, Retry, Fail - and the greatest of these is Fail.

Don't forget what amplifier you're getting. I myself use a Roland Cube 30 but still using an entry-level guitar atm though.

the fact is, i cant afford a better guitar... :nervous:

i had an acoustic guitar on which i stepped on accidentaly about a month back. that guitar was made before 1914... or somewhere around that time. and it was in the family for all that time... sniff :(

its a better idea for me to get an electric guitar as my parents arent supposed to know i got myself a guitar, and well... when i'll have enough money, i will buy myself a proper guitar, but a priority is getting myself a set of drums. a better guitar can come later.

and Roland Cubes rock :D i got a friend who uses one, but i dont need an amp yet, my PC will do for now...

umm, i'll just plug it in my soundcard. my girl does it that way, and i dont plan any serious playing too much, i'll be happy if i'll manage to get to play it properly.

Well, half the sound of a guitar comes from an amplifier, but I don't know what kind of sounds you get with computer software

well, from what i heard of hers, it sounds pretty much as a clean, non-distorted guitar.

apparently SoundBlaster Live series of soundcards also has some effects... dunno...

Some software can record your playing and play it back as any instrument you want. Synthesized by the computer, of course. If you want quiet, an electric without an amp (or an amp/computer with headphones) is the way to go.

Can you say which model? Stratocaster, Telecaster, Les Paul, SG or all the other models I left out?

I'm actually looking for a nice Les Paul. How much did it cost and how is its sound?

[By the way, what's the genitive for "it"? "It's" is a contraction of "it is", but is it also used as the genitive?

Way cool, looks similar to my girlfriend's geet. I like that style of guitar. Cute girl too.
