Failed to save PILOT file.
I followed the "TBP - Proper Instellation Proceedures & Common Bugs" and I'm using fs2_open_Red_2006-01-09_d.exe. However whenever I get to the first part to create a new pilot it tells me "Failed to save PILOT file." I have 13GB of freespace (no pun intended), I'm running WinXPSP2 with all the latest patches, antivirus disabled, and Windows firewall disabled. I have been able to run Freespace SCP (not TBP's version) on it's own ok.

Just a thought... have you tried creating a new pilot under your FS install, then copying the pilot files into your TBP install?

Actually I suspect an even more likely explaination. Go into the folder where you installed TBP. Find the Data folder and check if there is a Players folder inside that. If there isn't one, create it yourself and add a folder called Single inside that.

Now try again.
