Re: Alternative to Nero?
PowerISO or Alcohol 120 are probably my favourites. Though Alcohol doesn't support File writing, only image burning :)

Re: Alternative to Nero?
Roxio Media Creator. Expensive, but very very good at doing anything to any media you want! :D

Re: Alternative to Nero?
In linux K3b, GnomeBaker and Graveman. Even KDE and Gnome filemanagers seems to have some burning capabilities these days. In Windows Nero is simply the best, I wouldn't touch any Roxio product with a ten-feet pole.

Sweet I've needed a burning proggy too. The unregistered limit on PowerISO is kind of a downer though. May have to find a full ver copy, to buy or borrow. :)

Re: Alternative to Nero?
Yeah.  If you want AOL style system intrusion from Roxio, it's your perogitive to do so.

Never had any real problems with Nero 5 or 6, just make sure you have the latest update from nero.com. As for Nero 7, no idea how stable that is since I have never used it. If you have updated your Nero, how about giving some details about the problem?

CDBurnerXP Pro - simple, easy, and free. I've used it since I've gotten tired of the bloatware that Roxio/Nero have become. The one thing I don't think it does is CD-to-CD copying.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Re: Alternative to Nero?
PowerISO works absolutely fine for me. I seem to recall that throwing too many CD-Burning programs onto your computer can faff up the CD-Burning, I know Nero used to be very snotty about sharing with other programs, but I'mnot sure if that's still the case.

Does anyone know of an open source app (or just plain free) with the capabilities of NeroVision? I could throw together a rig and install VideoLinux but I doubt I'd have time before my latest project begins.

System intrusion? Never had anything like that... it just functions as any other program would.

Re: Alternative to Nero?
I like NTI CD Maker 6 Gold.  I don't think it was that expensive...And it can do quite a bit.  It does audio, data, and movies on CD or DVD.  Plus, you can do CD to CD copying.  And image burning.

This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address occurred during the same week.  This is an ironic juxtaposition of events--one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, while the other involves a groundhog.
