Hey everyone! I recently got back into FS2, and decided to update my 3.6.5 install. :)
I already registered 1 account, but my activation e-mail never came, so right now I'm, Kahn2. I'll have to harass Goober later. :P

Anyway, I got 3.6.9rc5 and the launcher that came with it. I got all the 3.6.8 MediaVPs and the 3.6.9 alpha patches. I also got DaBrain's compressed beams, because I was afraid the uncompressed might kill my 9700 Pro (I got all this information from S-99 in the Upgrade forum, in a topic where someone else was upgrading from 3.6.5.) Now. Everything's running without a hitch. Except nothing really looks much different from 3.6.5. A ship getting hit with a beam doesn't reflect the beam color, every part of a ship seems to be the same lighting, regardless of where the sun is. There is no "dark side." There's also no shockwaves. These are all just things I noticed in the first mission, because -allslev isn't working either. The launcher says "Unrecognized command." Come to thing of it, it said that about a lot of stuff when I pointed it to my exe. Maybe I need a different launcher? But I don't see how that could be, since it is the same one that came with the exe.

Oh, and there's no little picture of the ship in the target box.

uhm, i think multiplayer is broken atm. some people still play but i think they use an old version and just share ips. the fs2netd sign in thing is really just a form with no server to send its info to.

wlcome th the hlpbb. there are really no exits, they just tell people that to the sides and to the rear. unfortunately when they built this place they forgot to install the airlocks, so opening the exits would mean certain death. flame throwers are under the seats, but ive been lax in napalm production and they ended up becoming filled with holy water. plasma cannons and shotguns can be found in the weapons lockers, but they only give the combo to the v gods, the admins, and that hyperintelegent shade of blue which likes to hinder my napalm production. maybe i can sell you a hacksaw. if you absolutely need a deadly weapon, stop by my quarters and il sell you a nuke or a gatling gun. if you should be in the air ducts and hear a rattling noice, thats probibly carl. they say if you throw him your lunch you will be safe. but sence ive ben using bag lunches for bait in my gatling gun shivan traps, they seem to adgitate him. maybe you should try giving him a hug instead. have a nice day :D

2. Yes, except I put the MVPs in the main directory. I've now moved them into a seperate folder. I don't know if that is my problem or not, I haven't tested it out yet. I will when I have time.

And what's this "fake HDR" thing for ATI people? It makes things look shiny. I want.

Multiplayer works fine. FS2NetD is down and PXO isn't finished yet but you can play still IP games in pretty much anything since at least 3.6.7.

OK, I just tested it with the MVPs in a seperate folder, and EVERYTHING is vanilla now.

EDIT: I just realized I have no music either with the MVPs in the main directory or seperate folder.

You have to go to the mod tab of the launcher and choose the mediavps folder as your mod.

That fixed a couple of things, but still no shockwaves or beam reflections. :(

EDIT: OK, I just ran a debug since I didn't have any music and 2 or 3 topics down from this was someone else who had no music and was told to run a debug. While loading to the main menu I had a few things pop up as missing. I went into the Ready Room to load mission 2 and I got TONS of things missing. This is my log. Sorry for spam.
