How about commissioning a shipmodel?
I just thinked about it...this forum is full of good modders,shouldn't less-skilled members try to ask for something?

I'm not asking for a completely new model,but a modified one.
I'm searching for someone able to modify the Hecate(possibly from 3.6.9),just making it slim and longer in order to have something between the normal destroyer and a superdestroyer. Experienced modders will probably do this in a few minutes,I tried it with TrueSpace(converting the POF to COB ecc.)but the model hasn't got textures.If someone has a lot of freetime,I'll be pleased if he adds more turrets too(max 5-7).

I need it for my campaign,and of course the name of the modder who helped me on this will be shown as a member of the team.

Just post here if you can do this,then I'll give you the directives.

Copy model put in maps, copy maps convert to BMPs and put in dir you are gonna save model. Run PCS cob2pof, model has maps... :)

As for turrets, people can tell you I am NOT the guy for that...

Sorry, but you're gonna be hard-pressed to find anyone here who has the time/would be willing to do a model for you. It's nothing personal, but most if not all skilled modelers here are already committed to a project.
I'd point you to Karajorma's FAQ. It has everything you need :) And just extract the maps (they will be in PCX if it's vanilla, probably TGA (I thing) if it's SCP) - so yea, just extract them and texture the entire ship with it, or texture the parts that have that texture assigned to it - the ship will probably already be UVmapped.
