In an effort to create an old, busted-up Vasudan Installation damaged during the Vega Engagement [Mad Bomber's take on it] for a mission set in modern times, i'm finding it incredibly difficult to get the right feel. I've got the Karnak in sections, all messed up as one would expect, but then it hit me; what about a debris field?

And thus, I pose this question; how would I go about creating a convincing debris field around this dilapidated Karnak, without of course having to go to the trouble of creating several ships and setting them to have been destroyed a few seconds before the missions begins to give the illusion of debris?

There's a few 'debris' models on the Hades-Combine website if that helps?

Okay, 6 attempts later and I seem to have it down.

However, how would one make the debris invisible to sensors, and how would one make Vasudan debris, as it all seems to be Terran regardless of what I set it to in the editor.

Moreover, perhaps we should mark that particular function of the editor as 'Asteroid/Debris Editor', to save people like me from having to go to the trouble of experimenting in alternate ways for an hour and half, and posting topics on HLP... :nervous:

Edit: Scratch that, i've worked this out. Setting it to create Terran debris creates Asteroids, setting it to create Vasudan debris creates Terran Debris, and setting it to create Shivan debris creates [extremely ugly] Vasudan debris. Damn, someone really needs to clean this editor up... But my main question remains, how do I make the debris invisible to sensors or simply untargetable?

I don't think you can....

I don't see why you want to either. No one targets debris (except by accident).

This is a bug that has been fixed.  Look for it in the next RC.

You don't.

I was under the impression that, should an enemy come out of the debris field and you press Y  to target him, it'll jump to the debris around it, thus causing annoyance. Is this not the case?

I think the targeting system targets ships before generic flotsam.
