What's the best time of year to release a campaign?
In terms of exposure, player availability, etc.  I'm curious. :)

Re: What's the best time of year to release a campaign?
Over any sort of break from school, definitely. Gives us plenty of time to play the campaign uninterrupted. Spring Break, Christmas Break, Fall Break, etc. :)

But seeing how this is probably for ST: R, the correct answer would be 'tomorrow'. :p
Spoon - I stand in awe by your flawless fredding. Truely, never before have I witnessed such magnificant display of beamz.
Axem -  I don't know what I'll do with my life now. Maybe I'll become a Nun, or take up Macrame. But where ever I go... I will remember you!
Axem - Sorry to post again when I said I was leaving for good, but something was nagging me. I don't want to say it in a way that shames the campaign but I think we can all agree it is actually.. incomplete. It is missing... Voice Acting.
Quanto - I for one would love to lend my beautiful singing voice into this wholesome project.
Nuclear1 - I want a duet.
AndrewofDoom - Make it a trio!

I work. Every single day of the year is the same. A campaign at any time is the only thing that makes life bearable. I wish I was unemployed. Those guys have the life o reilly.

Re: What's the best time of year to release a campaign?
Of the options above, definitely Christmas. Rest of the year people are likely to spend time outside, which is detrimental to campaign-playing... cold and snowy weather is what you want ;)

However, in my own case, the answer would be today, as today it's raining more than I've seen in years and there's no way in hell i'm setting foot outside now that I'm finally home. Hadn't even needed to shower this morning, if I'd thought about it I could just have put some shampoo in my hair and gone to work, and nature would've done the rest during the short ride there.

a week (or a month, but month sounds too long) after it's done.
that way you can tell everyone is done and anounce the release it's X- day in a week, that would leave enough time to spread the word and make the people eager for the release
Signed, me

Re: What's the best time of year to release a campaign?
Early fall. More people are at school, but they are also looking for a thing to entertain them. Personally, my first campaign will be released about a week after it is done.

Tell everyone it'll be out by Xmas then bring it out at Halloween, that way everyone will be impressed at how quickly you finished it. Just taking a leaf out of every Ster Trek Enterprise engineers handbook!!!! ;7

Re: What's the best time of year to release a campaign?
LOL yeah... good idea for that. Maybe my campaign will be out by summer '07! Everyone will be surprized to see it out by christmas!

I have a bit of a problem, as my birthday is just over a week before christmas! I get my Xmas gifts as Bday gifts...

Re: What's the best time of year to release a campaign?
I voted "Early Summer",but Christmas was also a possible choice.

However it's better to release a campaign when you have finished/tested it,without waiting for the "exact moment".

Woomeister finishes Inferno R2 on January, and says:"Now,we'll wait until Christmas to release it"

Re: What's the best time of year to release a campaign?
After reading this, I wonder if releaseing ITHOV in October would be a good idea.

I didn't vote, but I think any time where the majority of the community is idle. Considering that the majority of any computer game community is students, school-breaks are an ideal time to release campaigns.

...However it's better to release a campaign when you have finished/tested it,without waiting for the "exact moment"...

Not to mention if all campaign makers think the same way, the community gets flooded with newly released campaigns real fast. I don't think that's a good thing.
