Looking for the Gauntlet missions for FS2, as I like to use those for testing new weapons.  Been looking around but can't seem to find them.

The FreeSpace 2 Gauntlet missions are multiplayer only.

Ah, lol.  I thought I remembered playing those in single player in retail FS2.  Well, found the files in the root.vp.  Gonna see if i can make them single player.

I don't know why the debreifing says they're hard, I've always been able to single handedly complete the FS2 Shivan Gauntlet on hard in an Erinyes with duel Proms.

Ok, figured it out.  I've never used Fred before.

Helpful hint: walkthrough the tutorial first, it's a BIG difference made.

The missions may be multiplayer but there is nothing to stop you starting an IP game and playing multiplayer on your own. Only TvT actually requires the presence of a second player to start a game.

The FS1 gauntlets far eclipse the FS2 lot.

In difficulty. It probably took a longer time to make the FS2 ones, though.

Thanks for the replies.  That walkthrough did help out!

Having fun testing out the weapons.  Made a version of the mission that skips the fighters and has the Rampart warp in alone, but it's equiped with my "20mm Vulcan" (placeholder name for now).  They fire 100 rounds per second.  It's quite a sight to see that thing fireing at ya.  Get in too close and your swiss cheese in less than a second!

:wtf:
100 rounds per second?

Heheh, 100 rounds per second sounds excessive doesn't it.  But each round does minor damage, and things also move a lot faster in the project I'm working on.  For example, the Ulysses flys at 200m/s with power directed to engines, and 280 at AB.  This will be among the fastest fighters, but pretty much everything will be able to go faster than FS normals.

Also, this won't be taking place in the FS universe.

flys: flies

This reminds me of 'Jake Wars'. Exactly the same ships, but the crappiest storyline conceivable. And crap missions. That was one of the worst campaigns I played. Not saying yours will be one of the worst campaigns I ever played. ;)

What's this campaign's name and storyline? I'm interstd. :)

Bah, it's summer vacation, I'm allowed to spell stuff wrong.   :P

Never heard of 'Jake Wars.'  What was the storyline on that?

As for mine, not entirely sure yet.  Right now I'm more interested in getting my table mods right.  I'm gonna have some 3rd party ships put in there, as there's not enough stock Freespace stuff.  I'm adding more stations, a couple of cruisers, a corvette, and a destroyer.  What I do have set in stone (well, more like drying concrete), is that it will likely involve an Inner Systems Alliance of some sort, and a Colonial group, but it's really still all up in the air.  I do have the two fleets set up as far as what ships each side will have.  Still need to figure out what kind of conflict there will be and what it will revolve around...

Not to mention I have no FRED experiance, so whether or not I'll actually release a campaign is still in question!
