Hey everyone.  I just got a new PC and am interested in playing Freespace 2 again on a casual basis.

I downloaded the FS2 Open from that torrent website or whatever (680 megs), though I should still have two sets of cds somewhere. 

My questions:

Does multiplayer still exist?  Do people play it?  If so, I want to do this.
How do I get the graphics upgrade in the FS2SCP?

Multiplayer still exists... With IP games or fs2netd. And yes, people do play it
Graphics upgrade requires the mediavp files which you ought to have if you dld the torrent thing (assuming its one of the Shivansps torrents). You probably just need to select 'mediavps' mod from the launcher.

Thanks for the warm welcome and great help.  The new FS2 really is amazing.  The graphics are great.

I still cannot get teh FS2Netd multiplayer file or register for an account.  Shall I assume that it is offline.

Yep, unfortunately it is still offline. GW is going through some major teething problems with it's new host.

I've switched my holy war to Starsiege, another old video game.  I have declared war in that game and it is soo much fun.
