i cant find the ai profile table.... how do i get the ai profile table? ive downloaded all the media vps i think... i wanna change some of the stuff on the table.

Write a new text file one using text editor - this means DO NOT use anything like MS or Open Office things, Word or anysuch, use notepad or similar instead - and name it either ai_profiles.tbl or whateveryoulike-aip.tbm. All blank fields will default to standard FS2 values.

For example in FSPort: fs1-aip.tbm

That setting has nothing whatsoever to do with AI.

i dont think i understand. all i have to do is create a text document or word pad document and name it ai_profiles.tbl? thats it? sorry but im not very good with all this stuff... i know how to eidt the tables that i have... but i dont have the ai prifle tables which i seen on this website.

oh and i have to copy the stuff from that web page you gave me and put it into the document right? i think i got it... but will freespace open also use that table? if not how do i make freespace open use the table? and what is ai in range time? and ai links weapons? and $Predict Position Delay? and $smart primary weapon selection? i didnt understand the explanations used in the wiki

A lot of the original AI information was, if memory serves me correctly, hard-coded into the game. AI.tbl and ai_profiles.tbl are files that you can create which will over-ride the inbuilt settings, thanks to the SCP guys.

For references on the tables themselves, the Wiki is your best bet....

Look also at AI.tbl, as you can control general AI habits from there if I remember correctly.

No you dont have to copy all the stuff from that webpage i posted... You dont have to include any lines that are identical to the retail lines in your own ai_profiles.tbl as all blank lines default to FS2 retail values. Just either copy or write the entried you want to change.

And yes all table files are just plain and simple - they must be non-formatted, so avoid using wordpad - text files that are placed in some directory that game reads - usually /data/tables of some mod, like i have FSUpgrade/data/tables - and are properly named.

As for the bad explanations... i have written most of the table section in wiki from various sources. I have written just about all i know about the settings to the wiki but that isnt much as i couldnt find any earlier documentation of their use.

but will freespace open also use that table?

AFAIK only FS2_Open will use ai_profiles table. FS2 retail doesn't know what the file is for and will ignore it completely.

hey thanx for the help... i didnt say your explanations were bad... i just said i didnt understand it... i dont understand a lot of things that other people seem to understand well.
