Then don't.

The majority of the support for earlier versions consists of patches to fix problems and issues with the code. If you're then going to turn around and say that you have no intention of installing those patches I'm left wondering why you'd care whether MS support you or not.

That wasn't in SP2. That was in one of the upgrades following SP2.

Yeah same here. All I got from SP2 are the parameters that deactivate all the instant internet virus loopholes.

SP2 offers a lot of good things to XP that weren't even built-in to the OS when it went Gold.  Yes, they "hardened" (more like broke) the TCP/IP stack in favor of security over ease of use and flexibility, but Wireless networking is so much better under SP2.  That, and a lot of RPC problems get fixed under SP2, which is good because damn near everything relies on RPC.  There's tons under the surface, a lot more benefits than all of the nay-sayers and anti-microsoft people say about SP2.

Only reason I ever upgraded to SP2 was to get Neverwinter Nigths working (it wouldn't run without it). Ofcourse I could have downgraded back to W2K, but then a friend made me install SP2. Propably should've stayed with the W2K.

And hoestly, all that anti-pirating stuff that they added after SP2 can be removed with a simple downloadable program. (I'm reffering to the "Windows Genuine Advantage" crap).

I've still got WGA sitting in my 'upgrades available' popup window where it has resided for the past month or two, should I install it?
