Does anyone remember pressing a button in the mainhall, and then entering a menu resembling the in-game renderer?

The difference between this menu and the renderer is that this menu displayed an NTF novel of some sort, and you couldn't exit the menu. Choosing the continue option from the menu makes the game load a mission (and then the game crashes out because the mission is "NONE").

I'm trying to get back to this menu, but I can't remember what the jack did I press to access it...

What was with that menu anyway? (genuinely )
