There is a ported Mac version. I know this for a fact, having played through both the main campaign and Homesick with it.

However, music and voice don't work, and it's a bit buggy (CTD every few missions). AFAIK it's not supported by the modding community here at HLP, someone else did it.

Still, it works fine otherwise, as long as the campaigns/MODs in question are retail-compatible and packed in VPs. (Not sure how the different file system of OSX would affect a foldered mod setup.)

This coming vacation I'll have the opportunity to try INF R1 with the Mac version. I am fully expecting a compy meltdown, but it's worth a shot. ;)

Taylor regularly posts universal binary builds for OSX. :)

Most of this is not true.  The OS X version of fs2_open is up to date with the Windows version, music and voice do work, it is supported by taylor, and the mods do not need to be in VPs at all.  Just go to the SCP forum.

I suspect that Mad Bomber was on about tigital and Taylor's icculus port of FS2 Retail to Mac OS X and not FS2_Open for Mac OS X.

I have no idea if he has an early version of the port or if the comments are a fair representation of the current playability of the port as I can't find much evidence of it's existence with Google.

It was an old icculus port, yeah. Didn't know there was an up-to-date version!

Therefore, I shall get the newest Open port, and be FSing much over this PC-less holiday! Haharr! :D

The FS2_Open OS X port is based on the original icculus.org port code that tigital and I worked on.  A rather large amount of the original code was changed or rewritten by me for FSO, the two main parts which remain all tigital's being the float byte-swap and the BSP swapping.  Most of the changes that I've made also filtered back down to the icculus.org port, but in an effort to play nice I have never released an updated build for the icculus.org version myself, and tigital hasn't released one in quite a while.  So, most of the bugs/problems with the icculus.org OS X port have actually been fixed, but there has never been a new build released with those fixes.

I'm still working of the FS1 icculus.org port, and when I get done with my current changes/fixes I plan to release a full set of FS1 & FS2 builds for Linux and OS X.  No ETA on that though, I've been spending most of my time working on FSO instead.
