OT- Predator 2, AVP etc
As far as we know, the type and look of the alien depends on the host. Dog hosts make Dog aliens human hosts make the traditional alien and Predators make Predaliens, going by this knowledge and looking at the Predator 2 movie. How come if humans havent reached space yet, does the alien on the wall look like a human host alien?

Because Predator was made before the whole 'DNA Reflex' thing was thought up.

coz the cranium in predator2 isn't the same than a human spawned alien. Look at the eyes: on the predator2 cranium, the eyes are on the side of the cranium. Aliens in the movies have the eyes at exactly the same place we have ours (or the newborn in Alien4). You can see them (the eyes) in the eight passenger: the scene at the end of the movie, in the escape shuttle. ripleys is in her space suit, and the alien right behind her, and he's extending one arm to... touch her I suppose. At thi moment you see him from the front, and you can see his eyes through the semi transparent part of the cranium on the front (it has2 big, ver black eyes, w/o lids, almost insect like, and really, really scary). oh, I also have pics of the alien being "built" by the movie crew, w/o the pelt, and it's really built around the cranium and, well, apatr from the elongated head and the pointy teeth (and the second mouth etc etc etc), it really looks like a human cranium.

it's not the novel, it's Giger's diary of the first Alien movie when it was being shot.
Lots of interesting stuff to learn there.
At the begining, before Giger was hired, the alien was meant to be a kind of space dinosaur. Aren't we lucky?  .
Then the alien didn't have his semitransparent cranium, the eyes were completly visible, and it looked like it had bicycle googles  . Also, the alien was meant to be completly transparent, you could see the blood circulating in the veins, stuff like that. The idea was trashed because of budget. There's also some pics of that cut sequence with dallas caught in the slime in the landing gear of the Nostromo, along with that other guy already half turned into an egg. And you have lots of concept pics, at the beggining the chest burster looked like a bare chicken
really, it was ridiculous. The face hugger went though multiple stages. The first one was... hem, giger is a bit sick in his mind, it looked like a lizard with a huge... you know what, and the thing was the one the face hugger forced into the throat of his prey. Disgusting. then it became somehow kike we know it, but with a big spherical eye on top, and a mouth w/o teeth on the underneath. it was rounder and more flesht, w/o scales. this was was definitively scary. The it became the one we know, the two human hands stuck together.
