Yet another ship. Dunno what it is.
I was dinking around with the bend, skew and taper functions in tS 6.6... and then this sorta happened. ;) I think it might scale well to mid-size cap ship. It just looks too 'big' to me to be a fighter. About 30 minutes of farting around followed by about an hour dinking with the details.

I fiddled with the distortions until I got something good looking, chopped it in half and mirrored the better looking half. Most of the time got spent on splitting the back of the body. Lots of point editing then slicing off whatever poked past the vertical plane, then mirrored and welded followed by a bit more point editing.

There's two pieces, the body and wing. The faces in the engine nozzels are aligned perpendicular to the flight axis, moved there manually point by point.

i think if you use a good color scheeme, add some slightly bigger engines and some gunpoints and you gt a good fighter for those fishy-lovin guys!

Ulysses meets the stand up cockpit?

Hey Bizzy are you all full on time or do you think you could help me with a few fighter concepts for my fanfic/Super Robot Wars cross-over thing. I use FS2 to make screenies of events in the chapters I then set up in FRED once in a while.

For the Getter Team it consists of myself in a modified Vf-1a, Nekki Basara in a modified VF-19, and Tel'c in a F-302. (All 3 are meshes I already have) Using SEXP's they will change into the following formats in order to combine into the Getter Robo-GX.

Getter 1 (Dragon): http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b321/Star-Dragon/GetterDragonShip.jpg

Getter 2 (Arrow): http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b321/Star-Dragon/GetterArrowShip.jpg

Getter 3 (Posiden): http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b321/Star-Dragon/GetterPosidenShip.jpg

Those are the best non-anime shots I have so a tiny bit more detail would be nice.  ;)

If you are too busy/no interest no problem, but if anyone else is pls let me know, I'd greatly appreciate it!

If no one helps, the Hyper-Intelligent Shade of Blue will cry!

Re: Yet another ship. Dunno what it is.
That fighter looks like it could have been a Vasudan counterpart to the Ulysses.  For example, the Uly was part of a joint Terran-Vasudan design effort, but it has more of a Terran feel to it.  I therefore believe that Terran influences were stronger in the Uly.  That said, its not unknown for new fighters to have fly-offs against another craft designed for a similar purpose.  Take the YF-22 vs. the YF-23 as an example.  Perhaps this fighter was in fact a result of the same joint design effort, but had more Vasudan design influences than the Uly, and the Ulysses won the competition, so this is kinda its competitor prototype.  Perhaps the fighter itself found its way into a Mercenary collection of fighters.  Granted, to look a bit more Vasudany, it needs some mild design changes, but nothing I can put my finger on right now.

Mix some hard edges in with the smooth carapace? (a la Sobek / Mentu / etc)...
Not greeble necessarily, just some sharper corners on the leading surfaces so it looks less, um, blobby. And as Trivial said, perhaps larger engines (more integrated with the whole, as right now they seem a bit tacked on to the cockpit. I know the Aten / Mentu cruisers are much larger, but they might serve as some inspiration in the development. ;)

Load up this version and see what you think. I've enbiggened the engine section and joined and blended the wing so it's all a single mesh now.

nice.

i like that idea of it being the ulyesees' (i know i cant spell) competitor prototype. then maybe the vasudans did a angel-valkyrie type thing, by that i mean they took it out of storage and improved it at the start of the NTF or something.

P.S. i got a Poo-lar bear toy for christmas!

The Ulysses already has a Vasudan counterpart, the Thoth.

Re: Yet another ship. Dunno what it is.
True, but the tech just says that they were designed by some of the same team, and simultaneously, and it clearly looks all Vasudan.  Whose to say that there wasn't a fly-off competitor to the Uly that the was not chosen for production?

Re: Yet another ship. Dunno what it is.
Fighter, feh. Try to imagine this ship as something bigger, like Romulan Warbirdish size. That would make the forward part several decks tall.
