Rotary bomb pods, the latest in offensive ordnance from Galan Aerospace!
Another 'press release' from Galan Aerospace. ;)

----
Galan Aerospace brings you its latest innovation in modular offensive ordnance; the RBP-8/16!

Sporting an eight-chambered rotary magazine, the RBP-8/16 features the same innovative multi-role capabilities as our Tri-Pod ordnance modules, with inserts to accomodate the mechanical, electrical and software requirements of any launchable munition that can physically fit inside, with a special emphasis on bombs.

High powered energy weapons may also be fitted in the rotary magazines, providing for a higher rate of fire due to the time provided for cooling between shots of each individual weapon.

A hybrid payload with up to four types of ordnance per magazine. Opposing cells must be loaded with identical ordnance for balance reasons and due to the four control channels available. (For enquiries about more control channels use our toll-free hypernet node, ask for Gotew Hellen Waite, our custom orders director.)

The RBP-8/16 is made even more versatile with mounting points on both sides and on top, as modeled by our A-symM7.

Not shown is the RBP-16/32, a side-by-side 'siamese' configuration of two RBP-8/16 magazines in a single pod. The RBP-16/32 comes standard with top mounting only, though left or right side mounts may be fitted- with the omission of the top mount, for ships that have hardpoints meeting our specifications for strength.
----

Both the RBP-8/16 and RBP-16/32 are included in the ZIP.

Well I'm not sure what I'm looking at... Rotating missile banks? Do they rotate after firing, or after bank cycle?

It's neat, I agree. But on a fast moving small craft it's only that, neat. IMO rotating barrels would be better in capships. Like turrets and such. One rarely has time to wonder them on a smaller craft.

But cool nonetheless.

Re: Rotary bomb pods, the latest in offensive ordnance from Galan Aerospace!
The rotating parts, the red bits, each have eight chambers. Bombs or large missiles can be launched out the forward port of each chamber. How many fit per chamber depends on their size. For large missiles or bombs I'd expect one or maybe two per chamber.

For guns, four types could be loaded- two of each per magazine, in opposing chambers. Or possibly four different guns- using the chambers between for ammo or energy storage. Are there any FS2 projectile guns that ever run out of ammo?

So one pod would be like four gun banks, multiple pods would operate in linked or alternate fire modes. Some of the ways of using these most likely would need changes to the FS2 code.

The main reason I did these was just to scratch an itch I had to make something like this. ;) Some of the inspiration came from the rotary rack used in a B-52 bomb bay for air launched cruise missiles.

Do whatever you want with the models.
