ok,

1. is it possible to to make it so that,say, a leviathan, will blow up in a special way. by that i mean, when it's destroyed the front section and back section will explode off, making 2 noises, the normal explosion and a noise that i can only relate to as a laser bolt going past you from in starwars or something. they will go out about 100 feet and then explode. then the central part will explode with about the same force as a meson warhead.

If you're willing to mod the current leviathan model so as to have a special table entry or two for this - Doable

If you want to do it all from FRED - Much harder if not impossible.

The meson warhead bit is doable with the explosion-effect SEXP, and the noises you can FRED in with play-sound-from-file or possibly play-sound-from-table if the mod is set up for it. The breaking apart, though, that'll definitely require you to alter the model.

just so you know, im going for an effect like what happened in that mythbusters episode were they blow up that cement truck full of hardened concrete.

That's not done with modding. The Explosion-Effect and Ship-Vanish SEXPs should be sufficient
