That's pretty old. I think this one may be newer.

It's still not the 12/12 build though.

Re: Cant download open al
Um, I'm pretty sure the latest OpenAL is in the 2.x range, not 1.1...

Re: Cant download open al
There are lots of different numbers involved and none coincide, but the latest installer is listed as 1.1 on this page, and links to this page, where it's listed as 1.9.9.

Rest assured I've provided the latest, sorry for the confusion.

Re: Cant download open al
I thought sure I'd seen an openAL 2.0 somewhere. THough that might have been for Linux only...

You're probably thinking of OpenGL. It's not like it's easy to mistype or misthink one into the other. :)

Re: Cant download open al
No no. I'm quite certain I'm not thinking about OpenGL. I guess I need to get my Linux drives back into my machine and get it going again to make sure. I may simply be thinking about some dev stuff that was discussed elsewhere though.

Re: Cant download open al
OpenAL is 1.0 or 1.1, there is nothing else.  It refers to the API version and no other numbering actually matters for the game since other versioning simply refers to the release and that's it.  It's basically the difference between FSO 3.6.9-0103 and 3.6.9-0112.  Both are still FSO 3.6.9, just different revisions.

There is no OpenAL 1.9.  There is no OpenAL 2.0.  You can think of it as OpenAL 1.1-2.0, or something like that, but it really only boils down to version 1.0, or 1.1.

Like I said, it may have been something I saw in regards to openAL development rather than the current version. Please don't bite my head off just because I can't recall something for certain, taylor.

This is what you said...

Um, I'm pretty sure the latest OpenAL is in the 2.x range, not 1.1...
... and obviously you are wrong.  The most up-to-date OpenAL version is 1.1.  There are different revisions, but the version is still 1.1.  To my knowledge, work on the next API version hasn't even started yet, so there is no 2.x, except perhaps on the drawing board.

I didn't bite your head off (except maybe with this post ;)), I was just stating the fact that there is no OpenAL 2.0, and there won't be one for quite some time.

"Pretty sure" also implies a degree of uncertainty, and actually, this post seems less snappish to me than the last. I don't know why. Could be I'm just messed up from whatever bug has been trying to make me sick the past few days.
