No, not a FS2 universe ship. One from my own universe of SD5... well, more like SD4.5.

This is the UNA/E (Unified Nations of America [later changes to United Nations of Earth]) Athens Heavy Destroyer.

The Athens is of Terran origin and hence Earth. For many years, the Terrans considered the Athens to be their best ship and possibly one of the largest ships known at 800 meters long. Boy were they wrong. When they started to further colonize, they chose Sirius as an exploration target. They arrived discovering a Homeworlder fringe colony. Rather than face a small disgrace back home they invaded Sirius VIII and kicked out the previous occupants or otherwise imprisoned them. Soon after their own colony ships arrived and took control. In doing so, they violated the thousand year old Order of Containment and in so doing, brought the wrath of the Homeworlders upon them. After recieving the first few warnings, they dismissed it, confident in their own strength. When the assault arrived, they were dumbfounded. They believed that their Athens Destroyers could handel anything... only to witness 4 destoryed by a single ship in a matter of seconds... That ship was the horrific Hurricane 3 Heavy Cruiser. The Athens' heavy mass drivers barely even scratched the HC and in turn were vaporized by the linear plasma cannon turrets of the HC. The Containment War has started.

I'm still working of SD5, this is just a model for the CW because I wanted to make a model of some drawings I made. Not done yet as it had a large sensor array on the nose and lots of other small stuff.
I have created a masterpiece.

Nah, it's too angular to be an SDF. I like the design though.
To consider the Earth as the only populated world in infinite space is as absurd as to assert that in an entire field of millet, only one grain will grow. - Metrodorus of Chios
I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. I could only imagine the GTVA warriors giving a mighty KIAAIIIIIII shout as they worked their triggers, their biceps bulging with sinew after years of Ivan Drago-esque steroid therapy and weight training. - General Battuta

I think it's really great, there's a sense of mass about it.

I don't like the WWII style battleship turrets. I think spacecraft of this technology level just wouldn't have a design element from at least 400 years previous.

It's a bit like seeing a design for a modern battleship with Sails on it.

SD5 stands for Silent Dawn 5. Those large turrets are mass driver turrets of a large caliber, and in order to propell a projectile at devestating speed a large barrel is needed and so it uses large turrets.

This is a sort of sub mod/campaign for my Silent Dawn storyline. As a repost, a Silent Dawn is a ferocious war that knows very little parallel. It made WWII look like a petty skirmish with SD4 (The Dark Return) having an estimated 4 billion dead. This number, however, is mostly because the Homeworlders blew up their enemie's home planet and hense that huge number. In short, there are a total of 5 SD wars spanning 2200 years. This specific war, The Containment War, is much like the Earth-Minbari War of Babylon 5 in that one side is faced up against a faction of superior technology and numbers. The Terrans of Earth barely stand a chance against the Homeworlders of Homeworld. The Terrans are not a unified force, if you notice the title of the ship it is called the UNA Athens. UNA stands for Unified Nations of America meaning that the first force that met the opposition were only of American construction. Right from the start, the Homeworlders had the upper hand (which is like 10 stories higher than the Terrans' hands) since the Homeworlders had like a dozen planets and hundreds of ships all unified under one banner versus the fractured Terrans with a fraction of the Homeworlder's ships and dozens of countries still un-unified and only 3 colonies. So these Terrans are basicly in deep sh*# unless they can mount a unified defence. But as I said earlier, that name changes to UNE (United Nations of Earth) which means they eventually DO unite. Oh, the Terrans are also willing to resort to some serious use of nuclear weapons. Weapons in which the Homeworlders outlawed and disallows in their warfare teachings.

This ship was slightly inspired from a Wing Commander Prologue ship, you can probably notice it. However that inspiration is only used for a small sillouette rather than the total design.
I have created a masterpiece.

I like it. Looks military/industrial - like something humans would actually design rather than just something a modeller decides looks cool.

You know, it there was a switch from the round engines there, to blockish ones, and if the turrets had their barrel length reduced, and if there was a little more linear bulk to the design, it could easily be a next-gen GTD Orion.

Edit: Oh, and of course a fighterbay.
