You're kidding, right? This guy has dozens of inventions that are worth millions, but you know what his problem is? He never, ever brings them to market. He could make millions of dollars off his stuff, but as far as I know, he has not sold any patents, construction rights, or anything. While his inventions might be amazing, they are utterly useless because no one else can use them!

I mean, the article even says it - he doesn't even have an email! I know at least five companies (including a start up that I work for) that would die to get some of his stuff, but he's completely unreachable.

I don't think that's likely TBH. If someone were really interested in his inventions to that extent then they'd send someone to seek him out and put their money behind it. There's very little cost involved in sending someone up to have a talk with him and to demonstrate the prototype. The people who could turn his ideas into mass-produced reality, I think, probably looked at it and thought 'unprofitable'.

Has there been recorded evidence that it's bullet- and bomb-proof, for example?

He's also made a paste that can withstand the temperature of the space shuttle reentry - he demonstrated it on video where he made a mask out of it and held it in front of his face with a blowtorch going at +whatever the entry heat is. The other side of the mask wasn't even hot. He also made a pad that's a foot thick yet can withstand a blast of C4 strapped right on it. And he made a light that supposedly can see through solid objects when it is shone on them. Yet where are these inventions?

For this suit? Dunno. Probably. Most of his 'bullet resistant' materials are fairly well known, and he's particularly known for testing this stuff on himself. For example, for his heat-proof paste ("Firepaste") he put a thin layer of it on his face and then fired a blowtorch into it. On film.

For some other stuff (Called 1313 paste): http://www.exn.ca/video/?video=exn20040915-firepaste3.asx

The last one (The light) is bull****, as far as anyone knows. There's absolutely no actual evidence he made it.

The other stuff, AFAIK, has been demonstrated, though. Although I'm not entirely sure about the the 1313 stuff.

It pains me to see the inventor of what is obviously a freaking awesome armoured mech future soldier space ass-kicking suit go broke. Has the world no room for dreamers? Someone gets rich selling bottled water and yet Sci Fi Soldier man get nothing. Or Bear Suit man, whatever.

I say start selling that thing to regular people. Nerds will buy it just to dress up for conventions.

edit: I KNEW it looked familiar.

The suit is for sale.

Beware, the link is really slow.  It must be getting a lot of activity.

The military is looking at a new type of body armor for its troops called Dragon Skin.  It's probably cheaper and it holds up about the same as this suit is supposed to.  Dragon Skin can take a frag grenade, with the grenade placed directly under the vest.  Plus, it can stop any round cold.  Even the best armor piercing rounds.

Dragon Skin.
